Knud H. Lossius
Knut Henrik Holtermann Lossius (23 September 1847 – 9 March 1915) was a Norwegian educator and archaeologist. He was born in 1847 as the son of Morten Lyng Lossius from Lade, Trondheim, Lade in Trondheim, Trondhjem, and was named after his maternal grandfather Knud H. Holtermann. He was a descendant of Lorentz Lossius, who migrated to Norway from Göttingen in the 17th century and became the first director of Røros Copper Works. He served as headmaster of Trondheim katedralskole, Trondhjem Cathedral School, and served as praeses of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters from 1899 to 1902. Lossius received the Order of St. Olav in 1912. Lossiusvegen in Trondheim is named after him. Morten Lyng Lossius
Morten Lyng Lossius (1819–1892) was a Norwegian military officer, engineer and politician. He hailed from Hemne, and was the son of Captain Johan S. Lossius. He was a descendant of Lorentz Lossius, who migrated to Norway from Göttingen in the 17th century and became the first director of Røros Copper Works. He married Inger Marie Holtermann in 1845. He was the father of Knud H. Lossius, praeses of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. Morten Lyng Lossius took military education, reached the rank of lieutenant in 1840, and then had parallel careers in the military and engineering. He studied the latter field at the Polytechnical Institute in Copenhagen. He was the director of public road works north of Dovrefjell, and headed the construction of the Trondhjem–Støren Line, which opened in 1864. Trondheim Cathedral School ( no, Trondheim katedralskole, Latin: ''Schola Cathedralis Nidrosiensis'') is an upper secondary school located next to the Nidaros Cathedral in the center of Trondheim, Norway. History There is great dispute regarding the actual founding date of the Trondheim Cathedral, but the most common theory is that the school was founded in approximately 1152 and is hence the oldest school in Norway. Røros Copper Works
The Røros Copper Works at Røros in Trøndelag, Norway operated from 1644 to 1977. Privileges from the Crown were given in 1647, including rights to forests and water resources within a circle of diameter 90 kilometers. The local farmers were given working obligations, such as transport and charcoal production for the copper works.
