Chuck Knoblauch
Edward Charles Knoblauch (; born July 7, 1968) is an American former professional baseball player. He played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1991 through 2002, for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, and Kansas City Royals. He played mostly as a second baseman before moving to left field for his final two seasons. Early years Born in Houston, Texas, Knoblauch came from a baseball family, as his uncle Eddie Knoblauch and father Ray Knoblauch played and managed in the minor leagues between the late 1930s and mid-1950s. Johannes Knoblauch
Johannes Knoblauch (27 August 1855, Halle (Saale) – 22 July 1915, Berlin) was a German mathematician. Biography Johannes Knoblauch, whose father was the physics professor Karl Hermann Knoblauch, studied law, mathematics and physics from 1872 in Halle, Heidelberg and Berlin. At the Friedrich Wilhelm University (later renamed the Humboldt University of Berlin) he studied from 1874 to 1878 and from 1880 to 1883 and received his ''Promotion'' (Ph.D.) in 1882 and his ''Habilitation'' in 1883. His doctoral dissertation "Ueber die Allgemeine Wellenfläche" was supervised by Karl Weierstrass. Knoblauch was a teacher for the academic year 1878–1879 at (his former school) the state ''Gymnasium'' in Halle and from 1879 to 1880 at Berlin's ''Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster''. Karl-Hermann Knoblauch
Karl Hermann Knoblauch (; 11 April 1820 – 30 June 1895) was a German physicist. He is most notable for his studies of radiant heat. He was one of the six founding members of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft at Berlin on 14 January 1845. Knoblauch's father was a well-to-do silk fabrics manufacturer in Berlin. Despite pressure from his father to enter the family business, Knoblauch in his early 20s opted to study mathematics and science at the University of Berlin. There he became one of the star students in the laboratory of Gustav Magnus. Knoblauch's doctorate, completed in Berlin in 1847, described valuable experiments that established some of the optical properties of radiant heat (a.k.a. infrared radiation). Eduard Knoblauch
(Carl Heinrich) Eduard Knoblauch (born 25 September 1801 in Berlin; died 29 May 1865 in Berlin) was a Germans, German architect. Eduard Knoblauch was born in his family's house on Poststraße 23 in the Nikolaiviertel neighborhood in Berlin, Germany. He studied at the Berliner ''Bauakademie'' under Karl Friedrich Schinkel successfully passing a series of examinations (1818 ''Feldmesserprüfung'', 1822 ''Kondukteurprüfung'', 1828 ''Baumeisterprüfung''). He was one of the co-founders of the ''Architektenvereins'' (architects' society) in Berlin in 1824 and was on its executive board until 1862. He edited the ''Zeitschrift für Bauwesen'' (Journal for Building) for many years. After the conclusion of his studies in 1828 he traveled in Germany and Holland. Emil Friedrich Knoblauch
Emil Friedrich Knoblauch (2 December 1864, Groß Karnitten in Kreis Mohrungen – 10 February 1936) was a German botanist. He studied at the University of Königsberg, obtaining his PhD in 1888. Later, he was associated with the botanical garden and museum in Göttingen. He identified numerous species within the family Oleaceae, and was the taxonomic authority of the genera '' Leuranthus'' and '' Noldeanthus''. Mary Bookstaver
Mary A. Bookstaver (1875–1950) was a feminist, political activist, and editor, widely known by the nickname "May." Daughter of Judge Henry W. Bookstaver and Mary Baily Young, she attended Miss Florence Baldwin's School (now Baldwin School) and graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1898 in history and political science. After graduation she moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she was part of a circle of lesbian Bryn Mawr graduates, including Bookstaver's lover, Mabel Haynes. Gertrude Stein, then a Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine student, became infatuated with Bookstaver, who found Stein's naïveté literally laughable, but introduced Stein to physical love.
