The Klass I was the top level ice hockey league in Sweden from 1923 to 1927. It existed alongside the Swedish Ice Hockey Championship, where the national champion was crowned. Klass I existed along with the second-tier league Klass II. Klass I was replaced by the Elitserien Elitserien (literally, "the Elite League") is the name of several Swedish nationwide sport leagues. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. IK Göta
IK Göta is a Sweden, Swedish sports club, which was very successful in several sports such as track and field, handball, bowling, field hockey, ice hockey, soccer (women only) and bandy during the 20th century. Their most famous and successful sport was ice hockey. They won the List of Swedish ice hockey champions, Swedish ice hockey championship nine times, including the 1922 Swedish Ice Hockey Championship, inaugural championship in 1922. The club was also operating bandy teams, both women's and men's, winning the List of Swedish bandy champions, Swedish men's championship in bandy once, in 1927. In women's bandy they were far more successful, winning eight times, the last time in 1984. Today, the club only operates an ice hockey section under the name Göta Traneberg IK, following a merger with Tranebergs IF in 2007. The Swedish Ice Hockey Championship ( sv, Svenska mästerskapet i ishockey; capitalised ''Swedish Championship'') is a former ice hockey in Sweden, Swedish ice hockey knockout tournament that was played every year between 1922 Swedish Ice Hockey Championship, 1922 and 1951 Swedish Ice Hockey Championship, 1951 and determined the List of Swedish ice hockey champions, Swedish ice hockey champions. The inaugural Championship winners were IK Göta Ishockey, IK Göta. IK Göta also went on to become the tournament's most successful team, winning nine titles while the tournament was a standalone competition until 1953. Djurgårdens IF Ishockeyförening – commonly known as Djurgårdens IF, Djurgården Hockey, Djurgården () – is a professional ice hockey team based in Stockholm, Sweden, affiliated with the Djurgårdens IF umbrella organization. Djurgården is currently playing in the Swedish second tier ice hockey league, the HockeyAllsvenskan. Södertälje Sportklubb, also known as Södertälje SK and often referred to as SSK, is a Swedish professional ice hockey club playing in HockeyAllsvenskan, the second highest level of pro hockey in Sweden. Södertälje were charter members of Elitserien when the league was founded in 1975 and have since played 24 seasons in the league (1975–1978, 1980–1981, 1983–1992, 1996–1998, 2001–2006, 2007–2011). Södertälje SK's fan club is known as Supporterklubben History Södertälje SK was founded on 22 February 1902 and originally practiced gymnastics, track and field athletics, soccer, tug of war and speed skating.
