Djurgårdens IF Hockey
Djurgårdens IF Ishockeyförening – commonly known as Djurgårdens IF, Djurgården Hockey, Djurgården () – is a professional ice hockey team based in Stockholm, Sweden, affiliated with the Djurgårdens IF umbrella organization. Djurgården is currently playing in the Swedish second tier ice hockey league, the HockeyAllsvenskan. Djurgården is the most successful Swedish hockey team of all time, as 16-time Swedish champions, 12-time runners-up, and leaders of the marathon table for the top flight of Swedish hockey. The ice hockey section was first established in 1922 and has since been playing in the Swedish league system, with the exception of four years in the 1930s when the hockey section was temporarily dissolved. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. Gustaf Johansson (ice Hockey)
Gustaf Julius Mauritz "Lulle" Johansson (14 September 1900 – 1 July 1971) was a Swedish ice hockey and bandy player. He competed in the 1924 and 1928 Winter Olympics and finished in fourth and second place, respectively. Between 1923 and 1935 he capped 64 international matches as a defenseman and scored 46 goals. He was a European Champion in 1923 and 1932. Johansson played ice hockey and bandy with IK Göta, first as a forward and then as a defenseman. He won two national bandy titles (1925, 1929) and four ice hockey titles (1924, 1928–30), becoming the best scorer in 1929. John Einar "Stor-Klas" Svensson (27 September 1894 – 20 March 1959) was a Swedish ice hockey player, bandy player, footballer and football manager. He competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. In 1920 he was a member of the Swedish ice hockey team which finished fourth in the Summer Olympics tournament. He played five matches and scored two goals. Djurgårdens IF Bandy is the bandy section of Swedish sports club Djurgårdens IF, located in Stockholm. History Djurgårdens IF was one of the teams playing at the Nordic Games in 1905, where the team lost the final to Uppsala HK. The club has been in the Swedish championship finals seven times before 1930, and won two of them, in 1908 and 1912. The 1908 team, who defeated Östergötlands BF with 3–1 at Idrottsparken in Norrköping, consisted of Bror Modén, Gunnar Friberg, Karl Öhman, Algot Nilsson, Götrik Frykman, Birger Walla, Arvid Spångberg, Ivar Friberg, Erik Lavass, Erik Andéhn, and Gottfrid Johansson. The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France, was the second Olympic Championship, also serving as the second World Championships. The competition was held from Monday, January 28, 1924, to Sunday, February 3, 1924. Canada, represented by the Toronto Granites, defended its championship from the 1920 Summer Olympics. The United States and Great Britain took the silver and bronze respectively, while other contenders included Czechoslovakia, France, and Sweden. The Bergvall system used in the 1920 Olympics was discarded in favor of a two-level round-robin tournament. Qualifying teams were placed in pools for the opening round, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the final round. The medals were awarded based on the record in the final round. The Le Mat Trophy ( sv, Le Mat-pokalen, "Le Mat Cup") is the trophy awarded to Swedish champions in ice hockey, which since 1976 has been the winners of the SHL playoffs.
