Klarabergsgatan is a main street in the district of Norrmalm in central Stockholm, Sweden. The street runs from Sergels Torg in the east to Klarabergsviadukten in the west, with a length of 350 metres and a width of 36 metres. Most of the houses along the street were built during the redevelopment of Norrmalm. From 2016 to 2018 the street was renovated into a pedestrian zone, with a car lane for public transport and taxis. In 2018 Spårväg City was extended to T-Centralen. History Klarabergsgatan got its current name in 1857, but it has had many different names throughout its history. The oldest known name from 1645 was ''Berggathon'', in 1664 the name was ''S.ta Claræ Bergzgatun'' and in 1728 ''S:t Clarä Bergs Gränd''. On a 1885 map of Stockholm the street is finally named ''Klarabergs gatan''. The street might be named after the hill located to the west of the Klara Church. Åhléns City
Åhléns City is a department store in the Norrmalm district in central Stockholm, Sweden. The building is located at Klarabergsgatan 50 and takes up the entirety of the Gripen city block, block. Åhléns City is the largest singular store of the Åhléns chain and amounts to almost 20% of the chain's total revenue. The building was designed by the architectural bureau Backström & Reinius Arkitekter AB, was opened on 9 September 1964 and was awarded the Kasper Salin Prize in 1966. The building is noted by the Stockholm City Museum for "having an obviously high cultural historical value". Background In the 1950s the board of Åhléns, Åhlén & Holm saw that the redevelopment of Norrmalm would move the centre of the city from Hötorget to Sergels torg. T-Centralen
T-Centralen (Swedish for "The T-Central"; T being an abbreviation for "tunnelbana", the Swedish word for "underground" or "subway") is a metro station that forms the heart of the Stockholm metro system, in the sense that it is the only station where all three of the system's lines meet. That, its central location, and its connections with other modes of transport make it the busiest station in the system. The station is located in the Norrmalm borough of Stockholm, between Sergels torg (Sergel's Square) and the street of Vasagatan. Klarabergsleden was a planned east–west main traffic route through southwestern Norrmalm and eastern Kungsholmen in Stockholm, Sweden. The plans to build this route were put on hold in 1974. There was discussion about ''Klarabergsleden'', an east–west traffic connection between the central parts of Stockholm, already in 1928. The route was first designed in a zoning plan in 1932. Sergels torg ("Sergel's Square") is a major public square in Stockholm, Sweden, constructed in the 1960s and named after 18th-century sculptor Johan Tobias Sergel, whose workshop was once located north of the square. Hjalmar () and Ingeborg () were a legendary Swedish duo. Stockholm Metro
The Stockholm metro ( sv, Stockholms tunnelbana) is a rapid transit system in Stockholm, Sweden. The first line opened in 1950, and today the system has 100 stations in use, of which 47 are underground and 53 above ground. There are three coloured lines, as shown on the tube maps, which form seven numbered routes with different termini. Routes numbered 17, 18 and 19 (green line), 13 and 14 (red line) and 10 and 11 (blue line) all go through the centre of the city, resulting in a very centralized system. Anders Berg (architect)
Andrew Berg (Anders Berg; October 16, 1869 — March 1, 1939) was an immigrant to the District of Alaska who was a prominent fisher, hunter, and trapper. He became the first licensed big game guide in Alaska. Early life and emigration Andrew Berg was born Anders Berg on October 16, 1869, in Nykarleby, Finland, then part of the Russian Empire. His father Johan and mother Lovisa owned a small farm. The family also hunted and fished. Because of extreme poverty, Andrew left Finland in 1887 at the age of 16. Along with two other boys from his town, Berg sailed to Hull in England, before travelling to Liverpool by train.
