Kjell Stormoen
Kjell Stormoen (24 March 1921 – 22 October 2010) was a Norwegian actor, scenographer and theatre director. He was born in Bergen as a son of Trygve H. Stormoen (1896–1971) and Hjørdis Henriksen (1897–1975). He was a first cousin of Guri Stormoen, and also related to Harald and Hans Stormoen. He was married twice, the first time to actor Elna Kimmestad from 1945 to 1972. He was educated as an engraver, but also participated in the dramatic society Bergens Dramatiske Klubb. He was a scenographer at the Trøndelag Teater from 1945 to 1948. After some time as a scenographer at the newly opened Riksteatret in 1949, he became an actor at Rogaland Teater in the same year. He was theatre director at Rogaland Teater from 1951 to 1952, and worked as an actor at Riksteatret from 1952 to 1953, at Den Nationale Scene from 1953 to 1969 and at Nationaltheatret from 1969 to 1973. Kimen
''Kimen'' (The Seed) is a Norwegian film from 1974 directed by Erik Solbakken. It starred Kjell Stormoen, Svein Sturla Hungnes, Ragnhild Michelsen, Helle Ottesen, Helge Jordal, and Ragnhild Hilt. The film was based on the 1940 novel of the same name by Tarjei Vesaas. Plot Some people are living on a green island in the ocean to the west. In this simple and earthy environment, they live in harmony with each other. It seems to be a small community in balance. However, when a mentally unstable stranger comes to the island, this balance is suddenly destroyed. The stranger causes a young girl's death, and the death has a strong impact on the island community. Fear and mass hysteria affect the population. The drama in the film highlights themes such as crowd psychology and an individual's responsibility for collective misdeeds. Elna Kimmestad
Elna Kimmestad (30 July 1918 – 21 March 1997) was a Norwegian actress. She was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. She made her stage debut in the play ''Erasmus Montanus'' at Trøndelag Teater in 1942. She worked at Den Nationale Scene from 1944 to 1945, at Trøndelag Teater again from 1945 to 1948, at Den Nationale Scene from 1948 to 1951, Rogaland Teater from 1951 to 1952, Riksteatret from 1952 to 1953, Trøndelag Teater again from 1953 to 1969 and then the National Theatre from 1969. ''The Merchant of Venice'' is a play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1596 and 1598. A merchant in Venice named Antonio defaults on a large loan provided by a Jewish moneylender, Shylock. Rogaland Teater
Rogaland Teater is a theatre in Stavanger, Norway. Background The theatre building was built in 1883 on a parcel of '' Kannik prestegård''. It was designed by architect Hartvig Sverdrup Eckhoff, and initially held close to 500 seats. The building housed ''Stavanger Faste Scene'' from 1914 to 1921, and Stavanger Teater from 1921 to 1926. Several changes have been made to the building over the years, including enlargements and modifications in 1951, 1974, 1980, and 2001. Rogaland Teater opened on 9 September 1947. A working committee had been established in 1946, and after subscription for shares and financial support from Rogaland county administration and several of the municipalities in Rogaland, the theatre was established on 6 June 1947. Claes Gill
Claes Gill (13 October 1910 - 11 June 1973) was a Norwegian writer, poet and actor. Born in Odda, but spent his childhood years in Bergen, before moving to Oslo permanently. His most famous works were the poetry book ''Fragment av et magisk liv'' ("Fragment of a magic life") in 1939, followed by ''Ord i jærn'' ("Words in iron") in 1942. Both books were inspired by French Symbolism, and stand as early examples of the modern form. He later became involved in acting, and was director of Rogaland Teater from 1952 til 1956. Jens Bolling
Jens Bolling (23 June 1915 – 13 December 1992) was a Norwegian actor and theatre director. He was among the founders of Studioteatret, and a well-known interpreter of Norwegian fairy-tales. Early and personal life Bolling was born in Levanger, as the son of saw mill manager Sigvard Bolling and Borghild Elnan. He grew up at the farm Brekke in the valley Maridalen north of Oslo. His mother died early, and his grandmother took her place. She was an eminent narrator of legends and fairytales. Also story telling among the farm workers and mill workers had influence on Bolling's later acting career. He had his first performance experience when he was seven years old, in a former hen house, playing Ludvig Holberg's ''Jeppe''. Norwegian Actors' Equity Association
The Norwegian Actors' Equity Association ( no, Norsk Skuespillerforbund) is an association of Norwegian actors. Its main purpose is to improve actors' working conditions and to protect the artistic, judicial and financial interests of actors in Norway. The association was established in 1898, after an initiative from actor Sigurd Asmundsen at a birthday party in 1897, followed by a preparatory meeting in April 1898, and a constituent meeting 27 October 1898. The first chairman was Sigvard Gundersen, with Johanne Dybwad as vice chairman, and Christian Sandal as first secretary. Important issues during the early years were contractual conditions, pensions, and regulation of foreign ensembles.
