Kiukainen
Kiukainen ( sv, Kiukais) is a former municipality of Finland. It was consolidated with Eura on 1 January 2009. It is located in the Satakunta region. The municipality had a population of 3,408 (2003) and covered an area of 149.88 km² of which 0.22 km² is water. The population density was 22.7 inhabitants per km². In Kiukainen there are many ancient gravehills made from piled stones. Largest of them is called Kuninkaanhauta, "the king's grave", located in the Panelia village. It is the biggest of its type in Nordic countries. The Stone Age Kiukainen culture is named after Kiukainen municipality. The municipality was unilingually Finnish. Panelia
Panelia is a village in the municipality of Eura in Satakunta, Finland. It is located on the connecting road 2172, about away from the town centers of Eura and Harjavalta. Panelia has a population of 850 inhabitants, and, along with the Eurakoski village, it was the second urban area in the former municipality of Kiukainen, which joined Eura in 2009. History Panelia is an old village, established in the 13th century at the latest. The origin of the name is unclear, but Aarne Rauvola suggests that it refers to ''panni'', an old unit of measurement used for grain. Panelia, like the rest of Kiukainen, was originally a part of the Eura parish. The first chapel in the area was built in the early 1690s. The chapel burnt down in 1714, after which a church was built in the village of Kiukainen (now Eurakoski). Due to this, Kiukainen/Eurakoski supplanted Panelia as the main village of the area. Kiukainen Culture
The Kiukainen culture was the last Stone Age culture of the southwestern coast of Finland, dating to 2400–1500/1300 BC. Its material culture combined elements from Pit–Comb Ware and Corded Ware cultures. The area of Kiukainen culture ranged from the shore of Kvarken to Vyborg Bay. Eura is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Satakunta region. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The municipality of Kiukainen was consolidated with Eura on 1 January 2009. The municipality is one of the most distinguished places in Finland in terms of pre-historical findings. The archaeological findings are mainly from the Iron Age and include e.g. ancient dress "''Euran Emännän Puku''". Local tradition had it still in the 18th century that a decisive battle against invading Sweden was held in Eura's Big Meadow (''Iso Niitty'') in the Middle Ages. Boksitogorsk (russian: Бокситого́рск) is a town and the administrative center of Boksitogorsky District in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the banks of the Pyardomlya River in the basin of the Syas River, east of St. Petersburg. Population: History The settlement of Boksity () was established in 1929 to house the workers of the local bauxite mine. It was a part of Tikhvinsky District of Leningrad Oblast. In December 1934, the construction of a bauxite plant started. In 1935, the settlement was granted urban-type settlement status and given its present name.
