Kitamura Museum
opened near the confluence of the Kamo and Takano Rivers in Kyoto, Japan, in 1977. The collection, based on that built up by businessman , comprises some 1,000 works including thirty-three Important Cultural Properties and nine Important Art Objects, with a particular focus on tea utensils. There is also a tea garden, , a Registered Cultural Property. The Museum opens to the public for exhibitions each autumn and spring. Fujiwara No Nakafumi
Fujiwara no Nakafumi (also ''Nakafun'', 923–992, Japanese: 藤原 仲文) was a middle Heian ''waka'' poet and Japanese nobleman. He was designated a member of the Thirty-six Poetry Immortals. Nakafumi's poems are included in several imperial poetry anthologies, including ''Chokusen Wakashū The (), also shortened to (), were imperially-commissioned Japanese anthologies of '' waka'' poetry. Bokuseki
''Bokuseki'' (墨跡) is a Japanese term meaning "ink trace", and refers to a form of Japanese calligraphy (''shodō'') and more specifically a style of ''zenga'' developed by Zen monks. ''Bokuseki'' is often characterized by bold, assertive, and often abstract brush strokes meant to demonstrate the calligrapher's pure state of mind (see ''Samadhi''). The aim in making ''Bokuseki'' is to represent ones single-moment awareness by brushing each word or passage with a single breath, ultimately realizing Zen and manifesting ones ''zazen'' practice into physical and artistic action. Kyoto Imperial Palace
The is the former palace of the Emperor of Japan. Since the Meiji Restoration in 1869, the Emperors have resided at the Tokyo Imperial Palace, while the preservation of the Kyoto Imperial Palace was ordered in 1877. The is one of the major art museums in Japan. Located in Kyoto's Higashiyama ward, the museum focuses on pre-modern Japanese and Asian art. The are a group of Japanese poets of the Asuka, Nara, and Heian periods selected by Fujiwara no Kintō as exemplars of Japanese poetic ability. The oldest surviving collection of the 36 poets' works is ''Nishi Honganji Sanju-rokunin Kashu'' ("Nishi Honganji 36 poets collection") of 1113.
