Kiril Cenevski
Kiril Cenevski ( mk, Кирил Ценевски; 28 January 1943 – 17 June 2019) was a Macedonian film director. Education and career Cenevski studied at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Skopje. He completed a graduate program in Motion Pictures and Television at the School of Cinema and Television, University of Southern California, USA. He began his career as an assistant director on television productions and documentaries in the late '60s. Cenevski made his feature-film debut as a director with 'Crno Seme'(Black Seed) in 1971. Though his subsequent filmography is sparse, Cenevski was active in theater and television. At one time, Cenevski chaired the Union of Macedonian Film Workers. One of the highpoints of his career was his "Golden Lens" award in 2013, which Cinematheque of Macedonia awarded for outstanding contribution to the Macedonian cinematography. Kriva Palanka
Kriva Palanka ( mk, Крива Паланка ) is a town located in the northeastern part of North Macedonia. It has 14,558 inhabitants. The town of Kriva Palanka is the seat of Kriva Palanka Municipality which has almost 21,000 inhabitants. The town lies near the ''Deve Bair'' national border crossing with Bulgaria; as such, there is nearly constant heavy traffic passing through the main road which bisects the two sides of the town (Deve Bair is considered the main border crossing between North Macedonia and Bulgaria because it links the capitals Skopje with Sofia). Etymology The name of the town derives from the curved riverbed of the river ''Kriva''. The old name of Kriva Palanka was ''Egri Dere'', in Turkish - "Curved River". The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, commonly referred to as SFR Yugoslavia or simply as Yugoslavia, was a country in Central and Southeast Europe. ''Black Seed'' ( mk, Црно семе translit. Crno seme) is a 1971 Macedonian drama film directed by Kiril Cenevski. The film was selected as the Yugoslav entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 44th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.Margaret Herrick Library, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences It was also entered into the 7th Moscow International Film Festival. The film recounts the story of Macedonian soldiers in the Greek army being transported to prison camps on Greek islands. Pula Film Festival
Pula Film Festival ( hr, Pulski filmski festival) is an annual Croatian film festival, established in 1954. It is held in a Roman amphitheater known as the Pula Arena. Pula Film Festival is the oldest Croatian film festival and is usually held in the summer, in July or August. Apart from film screenings open to the public, the annual Croatian film industry awards are also traditionally presented at the festival. The awards presented at the festival (called Golden Arenas) are the main national film awards in the country, and they serve as the Croatian equivalent of the American Academy Awards. The festival was originally started in 1954 and within a few years it became the centerpiece event of the Yugoslav film industry, with the first national awards being presented in 1957. This lasted until 1991, when the festival was cancelled due to the breakup of Yugoslavia, only to resume in 1992 as the Croatian film awards festival.
