Kiran Matharu
Kiran Matharu (born 27 February 1989) is a female English professional golfer currently playing on the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Matharu was a member of the Faldo Series development programme and 2004 and 2005 Faldo Series Girls' Champion. She received an invite to play in her first Ladies European Tour tournament at the 2005 Open De España Femenino, the year she was Welsh Ladies' Strokeplay Championship runner-up. 2006 saw her represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup after winning the English Women's Amateur Championship. She was named Sony Entertainment Asia 2006 Female Junior Sports Personality of the Year for the second successive year. Volvo Cross Country Challenge
The Volvo Cross Country Challenge was a women's professional golf series on the Ladies European Tour. It was a separate dedicated yearly order of merit for events in the Nordic region and held each year from 2005 to 2007. The winner of the challenge received a Volvo car and prize money. 2006 Curtis Cup
The 34th Curtis Cup Match was played on July 29 and 30, 2006, at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort near Bandon, Oregon. The United States won 11 to 6 on the Pacific Dunes course. This was the last two-day Curtis Cup, which expanded to three days in 2008. Format The contest was a two-day competition, with three foursomes and six singles matches on each day, a total of 18 points. Each of the 18 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole extra holes were not played. Rather, each side earned a half point toward their team total. The team that accumulated at least 9 points won the competition. In the event of a tie, the current holder retained the Cup. The Ladies Finnish Masters was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour held in Helsinki, Finland, between 2005 and 2011. In 2006 Finnair, the country's largest airline, became title sponsor and it changed name to the Finnair Masters.
