Kingsthorpe College
Kingsthorpe College ''(KC)'', formerly Kingsthorpe Community College and before that Kingsthorpe Upper School, is a secondary school with academy status in Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire. In 2012 it became a member of the Collaborative Academies Trust. It has about 1,200 students with c.180 in the sixth form. The school moved into a new building in 2007. It has been a specialist sports college with a second specialism in History since 2006. In September 2021 Kingsthorpe College joined the Orbis Education Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust, which also includes Southfield School in Kettering. The school is set on one site, which is located on Boughton Green Road. It was previously on two sites, the other being next to Welford Road, which is on the A5199. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Kingsthorpe
Kingsthorpe is a suburb and civil parish of Northampton, England. It is situated to the north of Northampton town centre and is served by the A508 and A5199 roads which join at Kingsthorpe's centre. The 2011 Census recorded the population of the district council ward as 4,477. For centuries, Kingsthorpe was a rural village, with a parish of and history dating back to the 9th century. In the 19th century, it was made a civil parish. Most of the parish was absorbed into the borough of Northampton in 1900; the remainder of it followed in 1931. Kingsthorpe continued to grow into the 20th century as residential development moved further northwards and either side of the A508 and A5199 roads. Southfield School, Kettering
Southfield School (formerly known as Southfield School for Girls) is a girls' secondary school and coeducational sixth form with academy status, located in Kettering in the English county of Northamptonshire. Previously a foundation school administered by Northamptonshire County Council, the school converted to academy status in August 2011, and in 2021 it joined with Kingsthorpe College in Northampton as part of the Orbis Education Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust. A5199 Road
The A5199 road is the direct road from Northampton to Leicester in England. It was formerly part of the A50 trunk road that ran from Bedfordshire to Lancashire. For most of its length it is known as the Welford Road, except for small stretches near Welford where it is known as High Street and Northampton Road, and a section near Wigston Magna where it is known as Bull Head Street. As its course is broadly parallel and near to the M1 motorway, it's very much lacking in modern features such as bypasses, which is why it was classified downwards when the A14 road, which it crosses at Junction 1, was built as a link between the M1/M6 junction and the East Coast ports. Ben Cohen (rugby Union)
Ben Christopher Cohen, (born 14 September 1978) is an English activist and former rugby player. He began his professional career with Northampton Saints in 1996; in 2007 he moved to France to represent Brive before returning to England two years later to join Sale Sharks. Cohen was also a member of the England team that won the 2003 Rugby World Cup. His main position was winger. In May 2011, Cohen retired from professional rugby.
