Kings' Cup (United States)
The Kings' Cup was a rivalry between Louisville City FC, Lou City and Saint Louis FC, members of the USL Championship. Both teams joined the second-tier league (then known as the United Soccer League) in 2015. Like the cities of both clubs, the rivalry takes its name from King Louis of France, (though not the same one – Louisville is named after Louis XVI while St. Louis after Louis IX,) which also explains the presence of the fleur-de-lis in both city flags and both teams' crests. While both teams are currently members of the USLC Eastern Conference, Saint Louis has often been a member of the USLC Western Conference instead, due to its presence near the very center of the country. The rivalry officially began in both clubs' inaugural match as STLFC traveled to Louisville for their opening match in the 2015 USL season. Louisville City FC
Louisville City Football Club is an American professional soccer club based in Louisville, Kentucky. The team plays in the USL Championship, known through the 2018 season as the United Soccer League (USL), which is currently the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. The club was founded in 2014 after Orlando City's USL team franchise rights were relocated to Louisville and played their first USL season in 2015. After reaching the Eastern Conference finals of the USL playoffs in both its first two seasons, the club went on to win the 2017 USL Cup in only its third season of existence. In 2018, they repeated as champions, becoming the first team to win back-to-back USL Cup championships. Magnus Rasmussen
Magnus Worziger Klein Rasmussen (born 18 April 1993) is a Danish footballer. Career Rasmussen came up through the youth academy of Nordsjælland, before moving to Danish second-division BSV in 2013. Rasmussen signed with USL side Louisville City FC on 12 February 2015. Rasmussen scored Louisville City's first ever competitive goal against Saint Louis FC in the opening game on 28 March 2015. He totaled eight goals and four assists in LouCity's inaugural season. In June 2016, he returned to the field after seven months of recovery from hip labral tear surgery. George Davis IV (born August 5, 1987) is the Director of the LouCity & Racing Foundation and an American former soccer player who previously played for Louisville City FC in the USL Championship. Early life Personal Davis was born in Dayton, Ohio, to George Davis III. He attended Elida High School where he played soccer; lettering in the sport for three years. Niall McCabe (born 6 October 1990) is an Irish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Louisville City FC. Early life Personal McCabe was born in Ringsend, Dublin. He grew up playing with his local side Cambridge Boys and Ashbourne United in Meath among others, before deciding to travel to the United States to pursue a scholarship offer and a chance to earn a degree at Young Harris College. Kingsley Bryce (born 16 April 1993) is an American soccer player who last played for Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer. Nathan Polak (born September 5, 1989) is an American soccer player. Career Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Polak played college soccer at Drake University in 2008 and then transferred to Hastings College between 2009 and 2011. Polak had a much decorated career for the Broncos as he was a two-time first team all-league selection and the 2011 GPAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year. Bryan Gaul (born August 10, 1989 in Naperville, Illinois) is an American soccer player who most recently played for FSV Zwickau in the 3. Liga. Career College and Amateur Gaul played college soccer for Bradley University between 2008 and 2011. Mike Ambersley (born February 14, 1983) is a retired American soccer player who recently played for Saint Louis FC in the United Soccer League. Career College and amateur Ambersley attended De Smet Jesuit High School where he was a NSCAA and Parade Magazine High School All American soccer player and the 2000 Missouri Player of the Year.
