The eastern king prawn is an edible dendrobranch prawn endemic to eastern Australia. Its scientific name is ''Melicertus plebejus'' or ''Penaeus plebejus''. It is caught by commercial and recreational fishers for human food. Names Eastern king prawns are marketed in eastern Australia as "king prawns" without qualification. In southeast Queensland, they may also be called Mooloolabah prawns. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) uses French and Spanish names that are direct translations of "eastern royal prawn": , . The FAO English name is "Eastern king prawn". Pepino Rodrigo Serrano Gonzales, better known as Pepe the King Prawn, is a Muppet character created for ''Muppets Tonight'' and performed by Bill Barretta, originally as part of a vaudeville double act with Seymour the Elephant. William Paul Barretta (born June 19, 1964) is an American puppeteer, actor, producer, writer, and director, who is best known for providing the puppetry and voice of characters such as Pepe the King Prawn, Johnny Fiama, Big Mean Carl, and Bobo the Bear. He also inherited the roles of Rowlf the Dog, The Swedish Chef, Mahna Mahna, and Dr. Teeth after the death of Muppet creator Jim Henson. Early life Barretta was born William Paul Barretta in Yardley, Pennsylvania on June 19, 1964. He is the younger brother of the children's book author and illustrator Gene Barretta. Barretta attended St. Mary's Hall-Doane Academy in Burlington, New Jersey, eventually becoming a carpenter. He met Brian Henson while they were working at Sesame Place. King Prawn are an English ska punk band founded in 1993. The band split in 2003, later reforming for a second run in 2012. History The band's formation was in London, 1993. The first major recording was ''First Offence'' three years later, produced by Martin "Ace" Kent of Skunk Anansie. King Prawn toured regularly with a broad range of bands, varying from hardcore to traditional and 2 Tone ska bands. The band called time on their first incarnation in 2003. Hiatus After the band split, Babar Luck, the bass player, started to perform under his own name. In 2006, he release the album ''Care in the Community,'' and has since released several solo and collaborative recordings. In the summer of 2007, Al Rumjen joined Asian Dub Foundation as their new vocalist. His first performance as a member of Asian Dub Foundation was at The Womad Festival in Singapore and his first album with the band was ''Punkara''.
