King Fahad Mosque (Culver City, California)
The King Fahad Mosque (also King Fahd Mosque) is a mosque located in Culver City, California in Los Angeles County, US. The mosque has a capacity of 2,000 worshippers, "a marble facade, hand made tiles from Turkey, and a minaret topped with a gold leaf crescent". The complex on about of land also contains a lecture and meeting hall, "classrooms, research centers, a bookshop, a children’s playground, and a car park". The mosque was financed by Saudi Arabia, specifically by Fahd of Saudi Arabia, after whom it is named, and by one of his sons, Prince Abdulaziz. The project was guided by then Director General and present Chairman of The Board, Khalil Al Khalil. It cost $2.16 million according to the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, and $8 million according to ''Washington Post''. Imam
Imam (; ar, إمام '; plural: ') is an Islamic leadership position. For Sunni Muslims, Imam is most commonly used as the title of a worship leader of a mosque. In this context, imams may lead Islamic worship services, lead prayers, serve as community leaders, and provide religious guidance. Thus for Sunnis, anyone can study the basic Islamic sciences and become an Imam. For most Shia Muslims, the Imams are absolute infallible leaders of the Islamic community after the Prophet. Khalid Al-Mihdhar
Khalid al-Mihdar ( ar, خالد المحضار, translit=Khālid al-Miḥḍār was a Saudi terrorist hijacker. He was one of the five hijackers of American Airlines Flight 77, which was flown into the Pentagon as part of the September 11 attacks. Al-Mihdar was born in Saudi Arabia and fought with the Bosnian mujahideen during the Bosnian War of the 1990s. In early 1999, he traveled to Afghanistan where, as an experienced and respected jihadist, he was selected by Osama bin Laden to participate in the attacks.
