Kin Ping Meh
Kin Ping Meh is a German rock band originally active from 1970 to 1977, and reformed in 2005. Their name is derived from Franz Kuhn's German translation of the Chinese novel ''Jin Ping Mei''. The band was founded in 1969 in Mannheim by Joachim Schäfer and Werner Stephan (original group was the school band "Thunderbirds"). The band was discovered by Polydor records in a competition of Bild am Sonntag on the Reeperbahn in 1970 and recorded the single Everything 's My Way / Woman and shortly after the second single, Alexandra / Everyday. In 1971, the first album was released and then in 2004 was re-released. It followed no. 2 album from 1972, and the third album appeared in 1973. The fourth album was Virtues and Sins of 1974, which also appeared in Argentina, namely as Virtudes y Pecados. Tokyo Blade
Tokyo Blade are an English heavy metal band, active since 1982. Tokyo Blade is one of the many acts considered part of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) movement, which lasted from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. Tokyo Blade have been through many changes of formation and have disbanded twice, often changing their musical style during their years of activity. However, the band is still active (as of 2020), with most of the original members in the lineup. ''Jin Ping Mei'' () — translated into English as ''The Plum in the Golden Vase'' or ''The Golden Lotus'' — is a Chinese novel of manners composed in vernacular Chinese during the latter half of the 16th century during the late Ming dynasty (1368–1644). Consisted of 100 chapters, it was published under the pseudonym Lanling Xiaoxiao Sheng (), "The Scoffing Scholar of Lanling," but the only clue to the actual identity is that the author hailed from Lanling County in present-day Shandong.Lu (1923) p.408 The novel circulated in manuscript as early as 1596, and may have undergone revision up to its first printed edition in 1610. Franz Kuhn
Franz Walther Kuhn (10 March 1884 – 22 January 1961) was a lawyer and a translator chiefly remembered for translating many Chinese novels into German, most famously the ''Dream of the Red Chamber''. Biography Kuhn studied law at the University of Leipzig and the University of Berlin, passing his state examination in 1908 and obtaining his doctorate in 1909. He began to practice law in Dresden in 1909. He was soon assigned to the German delegation to Peking as an interpreter, having completed a course of Chinese during his study at Berlin. He stayed in China until 1912. After the First World War, Kuhn began to translate classic Chinese literature into German. Eventually he ran into conflict with the Nazi authorities, who considered his works to be harmful. After the end of World War II, Kuhn's work began to be more widely known and appreciated. Geff Harrison (born 24 August 1946) is an English singer, composer and musician, known for performing with bands Kin Ping Meh and Twenty Sixty Six and Then. Career Early years Harrison started his musical career at the beginning of 1960s in the Manchester and Salford areas. In 1963, he started performing with The Chasers, who opened for The Beatles, The Searchers, John Mayall, Long John Baldrey, Rod Stewart, and John Lee Hooker. In 1966, he joined the band Some Other Guys, visiting Germany with them in 1967 to perform shows to soldiers stationed there. In Germany After Some Other Guys, in 1968, Harrison joined to the hard rock band I Drive and later on joined Twenty Sixty Six and Then. In 1973, he joined Kin Ping Meh, replacing singer Werner Stephan. He sang on Tritonus 1976 second album ''Between The Universes''.
