Yoyogi National Gymnasium
Yoyogi National Gymnasium, officially is an indoor arena located at Yoyogi Park in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, which is famous for its suspension roof design. It was designed by Kenzo Tange and built between 1961 and 1964 to house swimming and diving events in the 1964 Summer Olympics. A separate annex was used for the basketball competition at those same games. It will also host handball competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, was played at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium (renamed to Yoyogi National Stadium for the Games) from 1 to 5 September 2021. There were a total of fourteen events taking place: seven male events (six singles, one doubles), six female events (four singles, two doubles) and one mixed doubles event. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC; german: Internationales Paralympisches Komitee) is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement.
