Kilsfjord, Telemark
Kilsfjord is a fjord in Kragerø municipality, Telemark county, Norway. Kilsfjord is a continuation of Kragerøfjorden. Kilsfjord extends west from Tåtøy, an island in the archipelago just south of Kragerø. The area goes in a westerly direction and broadens further in. It then turns to the north and narrows sharply again, before ending at the village of Kil at the head of the fjord. The Kragerø River (''Kragerøvassdraget'') flows into the north eastern side of the fjord, about three miles west of Kragerøfjorden . Highway 351 follows the south side of the fjord. Fjord
In physical geography, a fjord or fiord () is a long, narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by a glacier. Telemark
Telemark is a traditional region, a former county, and a current electoral district in southern Norway. In 2020, Telemark merged with the former county of Vestfold to form the county of Vestfold og Telemark. Telemark borders the traditional regions and former counties of Vestfold, Buskerud, Hordaland, Rogaland and Aust-Agder. The name ''Telemark'' means the " mark of the Thelir", the ancient North Germanic tribe that inhabited what is now known as Upper Telemark in the Migration Period and the Viking Age. Tåtøy
Tåtøy or Tåtei is an island in Kragerø Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The island is located in the Kilsfjord, just to the south of the mainland town of Kragerø. The small island of Kragerø lies about to the northeast and the large island of Skåtøy lies about to the east. The island is hilly and partly wooden. The highest point is the tall Høgda. There was a school on the island until 2012 when it was closed. Kragerø Fjordbåtselskap runs a scheduled ferry service between Tåtøy and Stabbestad (on the mainland to the south), to the island of Skåtøy, and to the mainland town of Kragerø to the north.
