Killed By 9V Batteries
Killed by 9V Batteries is an Austrian indie rock band. Biography Founded in Graz in 2002, the members entered a temporary hiatus in 2005. However in the same year, they re-grouped and later signed to the Vienna-based indie label Siluh Records and released three full-length albums there. Around 2015 the band went on a second hiatus and front singer Wolfgang Möstl worked out his solo act Mile Me Deaf to a three member band. This band is in sound similar to Killed by 9 Volt Batteries, though a bit less noisy. In Mile Me Deaf he is the lead singer and plays guitar and occasionally on a Home Swinger. In 2018 he scaled down this project to a solo act again with a more electronic output with samplers, drum computers and him on guitar and vocals. Möstl also plays guitar in the bands Sex Jams, and the sludge rockband Melt Downer. Möstl also plays guitar in the live band of Clara Luzia. Sludge Rock
Sludge metal (also known as sludge or sludge doom) is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that originated through combining elements of doom metal and hardcore punk. It is typically harsh and abrasive, often featuring shouted vocals, heavily distorted instruments and sharply contrasting tempos. The Melvins from the US state of Washington produced the first sludge metal albums in the mid-late 1980s. Characteristics The key characteristics of both sludge and doom metal are a slow tempo combined with down-tuned, heavily- distorted guitars to deliver the heaviest feel that is possible. The drummer must be able to lead the band through the slow parts of a piece with an accurate time feel, which is much harder to achieve when compared with playing faster pieces. Sludge metal includes sections of the aggression, shouted vocals and occasional fast tempos of hardcore punk. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s.
