''Kihnspiracy'' is a studio album by the Greg Kihn Band, released in 1983 by Beserkley Records. The Greg Kihn Band is an American band that was started by frontman Greg Kihn and bassist Steve Wright. "Jeopardy" is a song released by the Greg Kihn Band, from their 1983 album '' Kihnspiracy''. It was the band's only Top 10 hit on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart, reaching number 2 in May 1983 (behind Michael Jackson's "Beat It"), and also hit number 1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Club Dance Play chart for two weeks a month earlier. The song also reached number 63 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the band's only charting song in the UK. The song is written in the key of D minor. Gregory Stanley Kihn (born July 10, 1949) is an American rock musician, radio personality, and novelist. He founded and led The Greg Kihn Band, which scored hit songs in the 1980s, and has written several horror novels. History Kihn was born in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, to parents Stanley J. Greg Douglass
Greg Douglass (born 1949 in Oakland, California, United States) is an American rock guitarist. Career Douglass started his musical career in the late 1960s with his band The Virtues, which later turned into the acid-rock group Country Weather. He came in contact with Van Morrison and Jefferson Airplane spin-off band Hot Tuna and ended up touring with both of them. After his departure from Hot Tuna, Douglass founded the group Terry & the Pirates. He got in contact with Steve Miller Band bassist Lonnie Turner in 1977 and co-wrote the song " Jungle Love" as well as playing on Miller's tenth studio album, '' Book of Dreams''. In 2002, "Jungle Love" became the theme song for CBS-TV sitcom, ''Everybody Loves Raymond,'' opening the program for seasons 7-9. Beserkley Records was an American independent record label based in Berkeley, California, from 1973 to 1984. Beserkley is usually regarded as a power pop and rock and roll label. During the 1970s, the label released albums by Earth Quake, Greg Kihn, Jonathan Richman, and The Modern Lovers, the Rubinoos, and the Tyla Gang. Several other artists appeared on singles, or on compilation albums. From 1980 to its dissolution in 1984, Beserkley was a one-artist label, the artist being Greg Kihn. "I Fall to Pieces" is a song written by Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard that was originally recorded by Patsy Cline. Released as a single in 1961 via Decca Records, it topped the country charts, crossed over onto the pop charts and became among Cline's biggest hits. Cline was initially reluctant to record "I Fall to Pieces" and believed its production (produced by Owen Bradley) lacked enough country instrumentation for her liking. Eventually, Cline recorded the song upon the encouragement of her producer. After being released, "I Fall to Pieces" did not receive initial airplay. However, through targeted promotional efforts, the song was brought to the attention of several disc jockeys who began playing the track. As the song ascended to the top of the country charts, Cline was injured in a near-fatal car accident. Steve Wright (bassist)
Steve Wright (1950 – January 16, 2017) was an American bass guitarist best known for his work with The Greg Kihn Band. A native of El Cerrito, California, Wright had played in a band called Traumatic Experience with El Cerrito natives John Cuniberti and Jimmy Thorsen. After changing their name to Hades Blues Works (later, Hades), they expanded into a quartet with Craig Ferreira in 1970 (he left in 1971). He later joined the Greg Kihn Band with fellow El Cerrito native Larry Lynch. Wright died of a heart attack at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento, California, in the early hours of January 16, 2017. Gary Phillips (born Gary Edmund Philippet; February 5, 1947 – January 17, 2007) was an American musician who played keyboard with The Greg Kihn Band. He joined them in 1981, just before their US #15 hit "The Breakup Song". In 1983, they had a #2 US/#63 UK hit with "Jeopardy".
