Steve Wright (bassist)
Steve Wright (1950 – January 16, 2017) was an American bass guitarist best known for his work with The Greg Kihn Band. A native of El Cerrito, California, Wright had played in a band called Traumatic Experience with El Cerrito natives John Cuniberti and Jimmy Thorsen. After changing their name to Hades Blues Works (later, Hades), they expanded into a quartet with Craig Ferreira in 1970 (he left in 1971). He later joined the Greg Kihn Band with fellow El Cerrito native Larry Lynch. Wright died of a heart attack at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento, California, in the early hours of January 16, 2017. The Greg Kihn Band is an American band that was started by frontman Greg Kihn and bassist Steve Wright. Their most successful singles include "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)" ( ''Billboard'' Hot 100 #15) and "Jeopardy" (''Billboard'' Hot 100 #2). The band's musical style and genres comprise rock, pop rock and power pop. History Greg Kihn began his career as a singer-songwriter in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. He started writing songs and playing coffee houses while still in high school in the Baltimore area. El Cerrito (Spanish for "The Little Hill") is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States, and forms part of the San Francisco Bay Area. John Cuniberti
John Cuniberti is an American recording engineer and producer. Career John Cuniberti was the drummer for The Rockets in the early 1970s, the original band for Eddie Money. He later managed Hyde Street Studios, where he was the recording engineer for the early albums of the punk group Dead Kennedys. He also remastered several of these albums for re-release later in his career. His first recording sessions with the band took place in a converted mom-and-pop grocery store. He was also the engineer for albums by other early punk acts, such as Victims Family and Flipper. Cuniberti co-produced Joe Satriani's debut album ''Not of This Earth'', and in 1987 he then co-produced Satriani's sophomore album ''Surfing with the Alien'', which was nominated for a Grammy Award and became a platinum-selling album. Larry Lynch (born c. 1950) is a former drummer for the Greg Kihn Band. They had a #2 US hit with "Jeopardy" in 1983 and a #15 hit with "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)". After leaving the Greg Kihn band, "Larry Lynch and MOB (Members Of the Band)", gigged throughout the East San Francisco Bay area, teaming up with Robbie Dunbar, the guitarist from San Francisco's "Earthquake".
