Khuen People
The Khuen (or Khuen, Kuan, Kuanhua, Kween, Khween, Khouen) people are an aboriginal ethnic group of Laos. Language The Khuen speak a language also called Khuen, which is a Khmuic language. The Khmuic languages are Austro-Asiatic. There is some debate as to whether the Khmuic languages are of the Mon-Khmer branch, but the majority opinion is that they are not. Khün Language
Khün, or Tai Khün (Tai Khün: , ; th, ไทเขิน ), also known as Kengtung tai, Kengtung Shan, is the language of the Tai Khün people of Kengtung, Shan State, Myanmar. It is a Tai language that is closely related to Thai and Lao. It is also spoken in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, and Yunnan Province, China. Khmuic Languages
The Khmuic languages are a branch of the Austroasiatic languages spoken mostly in northern Laos, as well as in neighboring northern Vietnam and southern Yunnan, China. Khmu is the only widely spoken language in the group. Homeland Paul Sidwell (2015) suggests that the Khmuic Urheimat (homeland) was in what is now Oudomxay Province, northern Laos. Huun-Huur-Tu
Huun-Huur-Tu ( tyv, Хүн Хүртү, Hün Hürtü, ; rus, Хуун-Хуур-Ту, ) are a music group from Tuva, a Russian federative republic situated on the Mongolia–Russia border. Their music includes throat singing, in which the singers sing both a note and its overtones, thus producing two or three notes simultaneously. The overtone may sound like a flute, whistle or bird, but is solely a product of the human voice. The group primarily use native Tuvan instruments such as the ''igil'', ''khomus'' (Tuvan jaw harp), ''doshpuluur'', and ''dünggür'' (shaman drum). However, in recent years, the group have begun to selectively incorporate Western instruments, such as the guitar. The House of Khuen von Belasi (originally ''Khuen, Khuon, Khun'') is the name of an old and distinguished Austrian noble family originated from the County of Tyrol. History The family starts late 13th century with ''Egon'' or ''Egino de Tramino'' ("dem Kühnen", meaning "the keen"). Johannes Khuen
Johannes K(h)uen (160614 November 1675), priest, poet, and composer, was one of the leading literary figures of the early Baroque in Bavaria. Khuen, who was born in Moosach and studied with the Munich Jesuits in the early 1620s, spent his entire career in the Bavarian capital as a chaplain to the Wartenberg family and beneficiary at the church of St. Peter. Between 1635 and his death he published at least fifteen books of vernacular sacred songs, some in multiple editions, with simple melodies and thoroughbass accompaniment that mark a distinctive stage in the adoption of sacred monody north of the Alps. All were published in Munich, and the relatively narrow distribution of extant exemplars suggests that they were primarily intended for a local or regional audience.
