Khomein ( fa, خمين, also Romanized as Khowmeyn) is a city and capital of Khomeyn County, Markazi Province, Iran. At the 2015 census, its population was 76,706 in 17,399 families. Khomein is located to the south of the province, in a fertile plain, about from Qom and from Tehran. The climate of Khomeyn is a moderate mountainous inclining to a semi-desert one. Winters are cold and summers are moderate. The name of Khomein was primarily mentioned in a book named '' The History of Prophets and Kings''. Subterranean canals (qanats), sewers and its famous fire-temple can be named as some pre-Islamic relics. This town was called the center of Kamareh 200 years ago. Khomeyn County ( fa, شهرستان خمین) is in Markazi province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Khomeyn. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 108,840 in 29,888 households. The following census in 2011 counted 107,368 people in 33,327 households. At the 2016 census, the county's population was 105,017 in 34,611 households. Ruhollah Khomeini, Ayatollah Khomeini, Imam Khomeini ( , ; ; 17 May 1900 – 3 June 1989) was an Iranian political and religious leader who served as the first supreme leader of Iran from 1979 until his death in 1989. Kian Pirfalak
Kian Pirfalak ( fa, کیان پیرفلک; c. 2013 – November 16, 2022) was an Iranian child who was killed in a shooting by the security forces of Islamic Republic of Iran in his parent's vehicle in the city of Izeh in Iran. His father Meysam Pirfalak was also critically injured in the assault and was hospitalized. His mother and other family members who witnessed the incident blame the attack on Iranian security forces. Islamic Republic news agencies, including IRNA, blamed his death on terrorists, circulating a statement attributed to ISIS, alleging that the group has claimed the deadly shooting that killed him.
