250px, Khlong Chedi Bucha in 2015. Khlong Chedi Bucha ( th, คลองเจดีย์บูชา, ) is a ''khlong'' (canal) in central Thailand. This khlong has a similar origin to the Khlong Maha Sawat, that continues westward all the way to Phra Pathom Chedi, the country's largest and oldest pagoda with one of its most revered. Both khlongs were dug during the King Mongkut (Rama IV)'s reign to shorten travel time for the monarch and other pilgrims from Bangkok who wish to visit the grand pagoda. After the restoration of Phra Pathom Chedi was completed in the year 1853 by Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Prayurawongse (Tish Bunnag). Mueang Nakhon Pathom ( th, เมืองนครปฐม, ) is the capital district ('' Amphoe Mueang'') of Nakhon Pathom province, central Thailand. History The district was created in 1895 named Phra Pathom Chedi District, under control of ''Mueang'' Nakhon Chai Si, Monthon Nakhon Chai Si. In 1898 the government moved the capital city of the monthon and the province from Nakhon Chai Si to Phra Pathom Chedi District. King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) changed the district name to Mueang Nakhon Pathom in 1913. Vajiravudh ( th, วชิราวุธ, , 1 January 188126 November 1925) was the sixth monarch of Siam under the Chakri dynasty as Rama VI. He ruled from 23 October 1910 until his death in 1925. King Vajiravudh is best known for his efforts to create and promote Siamese nationalism. His reign was characterized by Siam's movement further towards democracy and minimal participation in World War I. He had keen interests in Siamese history, archaeology, and literature, as well as economics, politics and world affairs, and founded the country's first university, Chulalongkorn University. Prince Chitcharoen, the Prince Narisara Nuwattiwong ( th, นริศรานุวัดติวงศ์ ; 28 April 1863 – 10 March 1947), Prince Naris for short, né Chitcharoen (), was a member of the royal family of Siam (now Thailand), minister, general and scholar. A polymath, he became known as "the great craftsman of Siam" and "the prince master". The anniversary of his birth, 28 April, is celebrated in Thailand as "Prince Naris Day". Nakhon Pathom Railway Station
Nakhon Pathom railway station is a railway station located in Phra Pathom Chedi subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Pathom district, and is located from Thon Buri railway station. It is a class 1 railway station and is the main railway station of Nakhon Pathom province. The station is not far from Phra Pathom Chedi which is a famous landmark of the province. The station opened in June 1903 as part of the first phase of the Southern Line construction between Thon Buri Station to Phetchaburi Station and was originally named "Phra Pathom" station. During the 2011 Thailand floods, Nakhon Pathom Station was the terminus for most train services instead of Bangkok railway station as some sections between Nakhon Pathom and Bangkok were flooded. The Crown Property Bureau (CPB) ( th, สำนักงานทรัพย์สินพระมหากษัตริย์; ) is legally the administrative agency responsible for managing the property of the King of Thailand. It has no tax obligations. The king had appointed six members of the bureau's governing board, with the seventh the sitting Minister of Finance of Thailand until the Thai military junta reign in 2017-2018, a royal property law was modified. The rule of appointing a finance minister as a chairperson of board directors from Crown Property Act 1936 was omitted, giving the king discretion only to appoint the board. Southern Line is a metre-gauge railway line in Thailand, owned by State Railway of Thailand (SRT), which runs through most of the provinces in the Central, Western, and Southern regions of Thailand. At 1,144.29 kilometres in length, it is Thailand's longest railway line. Khlong
A ''khlong'' ( th, คลอง, ), alternatively spelt as ''klong'' () commonly refers to a canal in Thailand. These canals are spawned by the rivers Chao Phraya, Tha Chin, and Mae Klong, along with their tributaries particularly in the low-lying areas of central Thailand. The Thai word ''khlong'' is not limited to artificial canals. Many smaller rivers are referred to as "''khlong''" followed by the name of the stream. Khlongs in Bangkok there are 1,682 canals in Bangkok, totalling 2,604 kilometres in length. Nine canals are primary flood drainage conduits. In years past, the Thai capital was crisscrossed by khlongs, and so gained the nickname "Venice of the East". Khlongs were used for transportation, for floating markets, but also for sewage disposal.
