Xalxal, Nakhchivan
Xalxal (also spelled as Xal-xal and Khalkhal) is a village and municipality in the Babek District of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. It is located 19 km in the north from the district center, on the left bank of the Nakhchivanchay River, on the foothill area. Its population is busy with gardening, grain-growing, poultry and animal husbandry. There are secondary school, library, club, mosque and a medical center in the village. It has a population of 568. Khalkhal County ( fa, شهرستان خلخال; az, شهرستان خلخالخالخال بؤلگه‌سی) is in Ardabil province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Khalkhal. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 92,315 in 22,969 households. The following census in 2011 counted 92,332 people in 25,763 households. At the 2016 census, the county's population was 86,731 in 26,779 households.
