Khalid Saifullah Rahmani
Khalid Saifullah Rahmani (born November 1956) is an Indian Muslim scholar, author and jurist who serves as the general secretary of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He is the general secretary of Islamic Fiqh Academy of India. He has authored books including ''The Islamic Jurisprudence: Introduction and Codification'' and ''The Book of Fatāwa''. Biography Khalid Saifullah Rahmani was born in November 1956. He is the nephew of Islamic scholar and jurist, Mujahidul Islam Qasmi. He received his primary education at home and studied at Madrasa Qasimul Uloom Hussainia for two years. He graduated from Jamia Rahmani in Munger and studied "dawra-e-hadith" (the hadith class of Dars-e-Nizami) again at Darul Uloom Deoband, and graduated from there in 1395 AH. Mufti
A Mufti (; ar, مفتي) is an Islamic jurist qualified to issue a nonbinding opinion ('' fatwa'') on a point of Islamic law (''sharia''). The act of issuing fatwas is called ''iftāʾ''. Muftis and their ''fatwas'' played an important role throughout Islamic history, taking on new roles in the modern era. Tracing its origins to the Quran and early Islamic communities, the practice of ''ifta'' crystallized with the emergence of the traditional legal theory and schools of Islamic jurisprudence (''madhahib''). In the classical legal system, fatwas issued by muftis in response to private queries served to inform Muslim populations about Islam, advise courts on difficult points of Islamic law, and elaborate substantive law. Mahmud Hasan Gangohi
Mahmood Hasan Gangohi (1907–1996) was an Indian Mufti and Islamic scholar and former Grand Mufti of Darul Uloom Deoband and Mazahir Uloom, Saharanpur. He was the most senior disciple of Muhammad Zakariyya al-Kandhlawi. Among his notable disciples are Abul Qasim Nomani, Rahmatullah Mir Qasmi and Ebrahim Desai. Early life and career He was born in Gangoh (India) in July 1907 and studied in Mazahir Uloom, Saharanpur and Darul Uloom Deoband. Later he taught in Saharanpur and in Deoband along with the service of issuing Fatwas (Islamic Verdicts). His Fatwa collection entitled 'Fataawa Mahmoodiyah' comprises 32 volumes and is copious reference book on Hanafi Fiqh Verdicts. Gangohi was an authorized disciple of Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi. Deoband
Deoband is a town and a municipality in Saharanpur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, about 150 km from Delhi. Darul Uloom Deoband, an Islamic seminary and one of the largest Islamic Institution of India is located there. Etymology The native Hindi-Urdu name for the place is "Devband". According to one theory, it derives from " devi" (goddess) and "van" (forest), when this place was full of forests in the Mahabharata-era. A related argument is that it is derived from "devi" and "vandan" (praise), referring to the local Durga temples.
