Khalid Mohammed Sabbar
Khalid Mohammed Sabbar is an Iraqi football defender who played for Iraq in the 1996 Asian Cup. Professionally he played for Al Zawra, Al Shorta, Arbil FC, Kirkuk FC and Al Ramadi. Khalid Mohammed Sabbar is remembered for scoring the 20-yard winner over Iran at the 1996 Asian Cup in Dubai, U.A.E. The goal scored helped Iraq to a 2-0 lead, came after good build-up play on the left of the Iranian box by Hussam Fawzi and Qahtan Chathir, the ball was eventually laid back for Khalid, who had only come on 20 minutes earlier as a substitute, his powerful shot found the back of the net and the celebrations began, Khalid sank to one knee and wept in delight. He made his name during the 1996 Olympic qualifiers, where Iraq was only a game away from qualifying for Atlanta Olympics, the team which included goalkeeper Saad Nassir, defender Haidar Mahmoud, midfielder Abbas Obaid and strikers Qahtan Chathir and Hussam Fawzi lost 1-0 to Saudi Arabia in extra-time in a play-off. Iraq National Under-20 Football Team
The Iraq national under-20 football team represents Iraq in international football competitions in AFC U-20 Asian Cup which Iraq holds 5 titles, as well as any other international football tournaments. Ramadi ( ar, ٱلرَّمَادِي ''Ar-Ramādī''; also formerly rendered as ''Rumadiyah'' or ''Rumadiya'') is a city in central Iraq, about west of Baghdad and west of Fallujah. Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records. Al-Zawraa also won the Iraqi Elite Cup a joint-record 3 times. Al-Kahrabaa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الكهرباء الرياضي, lit=Electricity Club) is an Iraqi professional football club based in the Rusafa District, near the Tigris river, Baghdad, that plays in Iraqi Premier League. History Al-Kahrabaa Sports Club was founded on 21 July 2001 by the Ministry of Electricity. They were promoted to the Iraqi Premier League for the first time for the 2004–05 season where they remained until they got relegated to the Iraq Division One in 2013. The 1996 AFC Asian Cup was the 11th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in the United Arab Emirates between 4 and 21 December 1996. Saudi Arabia defeated hosts United Arab Emirates in the final match in Abu Dhabi.
