Kgotso Khumalo
Kgotso Moses Khumalo is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2009. He was the inaugural Mayor of JB Marks Local Municipality in the North West from 2016 until May 2021, when he stepped aside while facing fraud and theft charges. Early life and activism Khumalo was active in anti-apartheid youth politics during the 1980s, including through the Congress of South African Students and the Ikageng and Johannesburg Youth Congresses, and he was detained for his activism in 1986. He later joined the ANC Youth League and was elected provincial secretary of the league's North West branch. 2016 South African Municipal Elections
The 2016 South African municipal elections were held on 3 August 2016, to elect councils for all district, metropolitan and local municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces. It was the fifth municipal election held in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994; municipal elections are held every five years. The ruling African National Congress (ANC) was the largest party overall, earning 53.9% of the total vote. It was followed by the official opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) with 26.9% and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) with 8.2%. Ndleleni Duma
Ndleleni Moses Duma (26 August 1958 – 23 November 2018) was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature until his death in 2018. He also served in the National Assembly between 2009 and 2014. He was a Member of the North West Executive Council from 2004 to 2009 during the premiership of Edna Molewa; during the same period, he was convicted on theft charges in connection with his involvement in the Travelgate scandal during an earlier period of service in the national Parliament. A former anti-apartheid activist, Duma was a prominent figure in the ANC of the North West Province. Hawks (South Africa)
The Hawks are the South African Police Services' Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), which targets organised crime, economic crime, corruption, and other serious crime referred to it by the President or another division of the South African Police Service (SAPS). It was set up as the Scorpions by the Thabo Mbeki administration in 2001 but President Jacob Zuma replaced it with the Hawks as its succession in 2008, with much new associates.
