Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel
Kfar Shmaryahu ( he, כְּפַר שְׁמַרְיָהוּ, ar, كفار شمرياهو) is a local council in Israel, within the Tel Aviv District. History Kfar Shmaryahu was founded in May 1937, during the Fifth Aliyah. The founding members were German-Jewish immigrants, who named the village after Shmaryahu Levin (1867–1935), a Russian-born Jewish Zionist leader. The village was founded as an agricultural community, with forty farms, thirty auxiliary farms, and twenty lots for housing projects. A well was drilled, and a synagogue that became the center of community life was also built. In late 1938, 60 families were living there, and the predominant language was German. Throughout the following years the town absorbed new immigrants. In 1950 it was declared a local council and was granted additional land. Miss Israel ( he, מַלְכַּת הַיֹּפִי, , ) is a national beauty pageant in Israel. The pageant was founded in 1950, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe. Miriam Louise Marie Siderenski (also Miryam and Sidranski (-Catzenstein); he, מרים סידרנסקי; born 11 November 1941) is a Congolese-born Israeli former Olympic runner. She was the Israeli Champion in the 60 metres, 100 metres, and 200 metres. She was born in Belgian Congo, and is of Jewish descent. Her father was born in Poland, and studied medicine in Belgium. She studied physical education at the Wingate Institute in Netanya, Israel. She married Yitzhak Katzenstein, has three children, and lives in Kfar Shmaryahu. Daphni Leef ( he, דפני ליף; born 7 January 1986) is an Israeli social activist, video artist, and editor. In July 2011 she initiated the 2011 Israeli Social Justice Protest that took place in Tel Aviv and were the largest social protests in Israel's history. Following the civil protest Leef focused on issues regarding fair housing in Israel and established various independent social projects. Hillel Kook
Hillel Kook ( he, הלל קוק, 24 July 1915 –18 August 2001), also known as Peter Bergson (Hebrew: פיטר ברגסון), was a Revisionist Zionist activist and politician. Kook led the Irgun's efforts in the United States during World War II to promote Zionism and mainly to save the abandoned Jews of Europe during the Holocaust.
