Kexi Heinäharju
Keijo "Kexi" Heinäharju (born 2 February 1955) is a Finnish former professional darts player. Darts career Heinäharju won the 1981 Finland Open, beating fellow Finn Risto Nurmela in the final. He first qualified for the BDO World Darts Championship in 1984, defeating Danny Inglis in the first round before losing to Ceri Morgan in round two. He would make three further appearances in the World Championships in 1987, 1989 and 1991 but lost in the first round each time to Paul Lim, Steve Gittins and Eric Bristow. BDO World Darts Championship
The WDF World Darts Championship is a world championship competition in darts, organised by the World Darts Federation. It would previously organised by the British Darts Organisation (BDO), who held it 43 times from 1978 to 2020. The championship was first held at the Heart of the Midlands Nightclub in the English city of Nottingham. The following year it moved to the Jollees Cabaret Club, Stoke, where it stayed until 1985. From 1986 to 2019, it was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. In 2020, the tournament was held at Indigo, part of the O2 entertainment district in London. Until the split in darts, it was the only World Darts Championship tournament. The 1993 tournament was the last unified Championship. 16 players left following a dispute with the BDO and the newly formed Professional Darts Corporation started staging its own annual PDC World Championship since 1994. Danny Inglis
Daniel "Danny" Inglis is a Scottish former professional darts player who played in the British Darts Organisation in the 1970s and 1980s. Career Inglis played his debut in the 1984 BDO World Darts Championship, losing 2–1 to Kexi Heinäharju of Finland in the first round. He had earlier reached the quarter-final of the 1983 British Professional, beating World Championship Semi Finals Tony Brown and former Gold Cup Champions Tony Skuse before losing to 3 Times World Champion John Lowe. Ceri Morgan
Ceri Rhys Morgan (22 December 1947 – 29 February 2020 ) was a Welsh professional darts player who competed in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) events in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Career Morgan made his World Championship debut in 1979, beating Barry Atkinson in the first round before losing to Tony Brown in the second round. In 1980, Morgan reached the quarter-final, where, as the number 8 seed, he began his campaign in the second round where he defeated Alan Grant before losing to Cliff Lazarenko. He repeated his best ever performances at the World Championships in 1981 and 1984 by reaching the quarter-finals. He lost to John Lowe on both occasions. His last appearance at the World Championships came in 1987 with a first round defeat by Jocky Wilson. Paul Lim
Paul Lim Leong Hwa (born 25 January 1954) is a Singaporean professional darts player. He was the first player to hit a perfect nine-dart finish during the Embassy World Darts Championship, which he achieved in 1990 during his second round match against Jack McKenna. Lim won £52,000 for his nine-darter, which was £28,000 more than Phil Taylor won for winning the tournament. His nine-darter remained the only nine-dart game to have been achieved in either version of the world championships, until Raymond van Barneveld hit one against Jelle Klaasen in the quarter-final of the 2009 PDC World Darts Championship. Steve Gittins
Stephen Gittins (29 August 1959 – 20 February 2013) was an English professional darts player. Career Gittins played twice at the BDO World Darts Championship. In 1989, he beat Finland's Kexi Heinäharju in the first round but lost in the second round to five-time World Champion Eric Bristow. He returned to the Lakeside a year later and again reached the second round, beating Australian Wayne Weening in round one, but again lost in the second round to Bristow. Gittins also played twice at the Winmau World Masters, reaching the quarter-finals in 1985. Gittins also won three open tournaments, winning the Welsh Open and Swedish Open in 1988 and then the Finnish Open in 1989. Gittins disappeared from the scene after the 1990 BDO World Darts Championship but briefly made a comeback at the 2005 UK Open (darts), PDC UK Open. Eric Bristow
Eric John Bristow, (25 April 1957 – 5 April 2018), nicknamed "The Crafty Cockney", was an English professional darts player. He was ranked World No. 1 by the World Darts Federation a record five times, in 1980, 1981 and 1983–1985. He was a five-time World Champion, a five-time World Masters Champion a four-time World Cup singles champion and 2-time champion of the News of the World Darts Championship. He won 22 WDF and BDO Major titles, he won 62 individual career titles, added to 20 titles in team events, winning 82 overall. In the 1980s, Bristow's skill and personality helped turn darts into a worldwide spectator sport.
