Kevin Flynn (hurler)
Kevin Flynn (born 1976) ( Irish: ''Caoimhín Ó Floinn'') is a former inter-county hurler for Dublin and former O'Tooles player. Club Flynn was named on the Dublin Blue Stars team on seven occasions, most recently in 2007. He won four Dublin Senior Hurling Championship medals with O'Tooles in 2002, 1997, 1996 and 1995 and a Dublin Senior Hurling League in 2006. In 2011 he emigrated to Chicago and led Harry Bolands to titles in 2012 & 2013 acting as player/manager. Inter County He captained Dublin to their Walsh Cup win over Kilkenny in 2003 and also won two division two National Hurling Leagues, the most recent one in 2006. He has also played Railway Cup for Leinster. Flynn made his league debut in October 1995 with a win over Limerick in Croke Park. He went on to make his championship debut the following summer when Dublin were defeated by Wexford by five points in the Leinster semi-final. O'Tooles GAC (Irish: ''Cumann Uí Thuathail'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ayrfield, Dublin, Ireland, formed in 1901. History Early years O'Tooles GAC was formed in 1901 at 100 Seville Place in the north inner city of Dublin from the Gaelic League branch. The Gaelic League branch held their inaugural meeting in February 1901. Francis Cahill was one of the founding members of the club and Brother J.A. O’Mahoney, who was superior of O'Connell School was elected as the first president. On Thursday 8 October 1901, after Irish classes the clubs first hurling team was formed. The captain of the team was Edward Keegan with Thomas Keegan elected as secretary and John Taylor as treasurer. The Dublin Senior Hurling League is a league competition for the top hurling clubs in Dublin. The 2010 champions were Craobh Chiaráin who defeated rivals Crumlin to claim the title. David Curtin
David Curtin (born 13 September 1980) is an inter-county hurling player who plays for Dublin. He plays his club hurling for Dublin side Ballyboden St Enda's. In 2005, he will be remembered for his astounding performance against Laois which confirmed Dublins All-Ireland status for the 2006 championship. Curtin finished the game with an impressive scoreline of 1-7. In the 2006 All-Ireland championship, this feat was repeated when Dublin swept aside Westmeath to once retain their Liam MacCarthy Cup status. He finished the 2006 championship with a scoreline of 0-33, a scoreline which left him 5th of the top scorer list despite Dublins lack of progress in the All-Ireland championship. Walsh Cup (hurling)
The Walsh Cup ( ga, Corn Bhreatnach) is an annual hurling competition staged in Ireland by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1954. Contested by the top county teams from the provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht, the tournament consists of a round-robin group stage, followed by a knockout stage. Formerly ponsored by Bord na Móna, it was known as the "Bord na Móna Walsh Cup". Prior to 2018, third-level colleges also competed. The Walsh Cup is part of a series of GAA tournaments known as the Leinster GAA Series, along with the Kehoe Cup (second-tier hurling teams) and the O'Byrne Cup (Gaelic football). National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship ( ga, Craobh Sinsear Iomána Átha Cliath) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin GAA, Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September. The group stage is followed by a Tournament#Knock-out tournaments, knock-out phase which takes place during the months of October and November. The Dublin Bus/''Evening Herald'' Dubs Stars Football/Hurling are the players chosen as the top Gaelic football and hurling players in their given position in the year that the Blue stars awards are awarded. The Dublin Blue Stars are a similar award to the GAA All Stars Awards which are awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Dublin traditionally play against the Blue stars team in a challenge match, which proves to be an opportunity to see and try out new players for the Dublin football and Hurling teams.
