Statue Of Unity
The ''Statue of Unity'' is the world's tallest statue, with a height of , located near Kevadia in the state of Gujarat, India. It depicts Indian statesman and independence activist Vallabhbhai Patel (1875–1950), who was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India and an adherent of Mahatma Gandhi. Patel was highly respected for his leadership in uniting 562 princely states of India to form the single Union of India. The statue is located in Gujarat on the Narmada River in the Kevadiya colony, facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam southeast of the city of Vadodara. Sardar Sarovar Dam
The Sardar Sarovar Dam is a concrete gravity dam built on the Narmada River in Navagam near the town of Kevadiya, Narmada District, in the state of Gujarat, India. The dam was constructed to provide water and electricity to four Indian states: Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The project was a vision of the first deputy Prime Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (also known as Sardar Patel) and the foundation stone was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru. The project took form in 1979 as part of a development scheme funded by the World Bank through their International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, to increase irrigation and produce hydroelectricity, using a loan of US$200 million. Narmada district is an administrative district in the state of Gujarat in India. The district headquarters are located at Rajpipla. The district is bounded by Vadodara and Chhota Udaipur districts in the north, by Nandurbar district of Maharashtra state in the east, by Surat and Tapi districts in the south and by Bharuch district in the west. The district occupies an area of 2,755 km² and has a population of 590,297 (as of 2011). It was 10.44% urban as of 2011. Ekta Nagar railway station (station code: EKNR) earlier known as Kevadiya railway station (station code: KDCY) is located in Kevadiya, Narmada district, Gujarat, India. It consists of 3 platforms. Location Facing the Narmada river, it is 7 kilometers away from the small town of Kevadiya. The construction of the station aims to make the ''Statue of Unity'' more accessible to tourists.
