Kersti Bergroth
Kersti Solveig Bergroth (24 January 1886 – 24 January 1975) was a Finnish author and playwright. Career Bergroth was known to have been linguistically gifted. She wrote in Swedish until 1920, translated English and French literature to Finnish and also spoke German. She is best remembered for having written popular plays ''Anu ja Mikko'' and ''Kuparsaare Antti'' using a Karelian dialect. During her career, she released around 70 books, including novels, memoirs, children's stories and poems. Bergroth was also noted for collaborating five times with film director Valentin Vaala. Using the pseudonym Tet, she wrote the film scripts for ''Morsian yllättää'' (1941), ''Tositarkoituksella'' (1943), ''Dynamiittityttö'' (1944), ''Vuokrasulhanen'' (1945) and ''Viikon tyttö'' (1946). Karelian Language
Karelian (North Karelian and Livvi Karelian: ; Ludic: ; Tver Karelian: ) is a Finnic language spoken mainly in the Russian Republic of Karelia. Linguistically, Karelian is closely related to the Finnish dialects spoken in eastern Finland, and some Finnish linguists have even classified Karelian as a dialect of Finnish, though in the modern day it is widely considered a separate language. Karelian is not to be confused with the Southeastern dialects of Finnish, sometimes referred to as ("Karelian dialects") in Finland. There is no single standard Karelian language. Each writer writes in Karelian according to their own dialectal form. Valentin Vaala (born Valentin Yakovich Ivanoff, Russian: Валентин Якович Иванов; 13 October 1909 in Helsinki – 21 November 1976 in Helsinki) was a Finnish film director, screenwriter and film editor. Lea Joutseno
Lea Ruth Margit Joutseno (formerly Jönsson, 6 November 1910, Helsinki – 20 June 1977) was a Finnish actress, screenwriter and a translator. She became known as a blonde comedian in the 1940s after appearing in several Valentin Vaala's films. Along with Helena Kara and Regina Linnanheimo, Joutseno was one of the few Finnish film stars who did not have a theatrical background. Film career Lea Joutseno played the female lead in nine films between 1941–1948. Most of them were comedies, and except for two, directed by Valentin Vaala.
