Kerala Congress (Jacob)
Kerala Congress (Jacob) is a regional political party in the Indian state of Kerala. It is a faction of Kerala Congress founded by the former minister the late T. M. Jacob who has held portfolios like Education, Irrigation, Culture and Civil Supplies in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Formation The Kerala Congress (Jacob) faction was born in 1993 when T. M. Jacob and his supporting MLAs – Johnny Nellore, Mathew Stephen and P. M. Mathew – decided to split from the Kerala Congress (M) party led by former Minister K. M. Mani following difference of opinion. P. M. Mathew and Mathew Stephen later returned to their former party, Kerala Congress (M). Kerala Congress (Jacob) has its strongholds in the eastern part of Ernakulam district, such as Piravom, Kothamangalam and Kuthattukulam, and in certain areas in the Alappuzha, and Trivandrum districts. Indian National Congress
The Indian National Congress (INC), colloquially the Congress Party but often simply the Congress, is a political party in India with widespread roots. Angamaly
Angamaly (''Aṅkamāli''), , Malayalam : അങ്കമാലി Situated about north of the city centre, the town lies at the intersection of Main Central Road (MC Road) and National Highway 544. MC Road, which starts from Thiruvananthapuram ends at Angamaly at its intersection with NH 544. Cochin International Airport is less than 10KM away from the town of Angamaly. Udumbanchola
Udumbanchola is a taluk in Idukki district of Kerala state in India. This is in the high ranges. Nedumkandam is the major town and capital of Udumbanchola taluk. Mathikettan Shola National Park is located in Udumbanchola. In July 2019, a team of historians found new menhir, perhaps the largest-ever recorded in Kerala, on the Pothamala hills in Udumbanchola taluk on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. According to them, Pothamala hills housed hundreds of cobbled stone structures, pointing to the existence of a structured graveyard of a prehistoric civilization. Oommen Mathew
Oommen Mathew (22 December 1939 – 20 July 2013) was a politician from Kerala, India. He was the Working Chairman of Kerala Congress (Jacob), a splinter faction of Kerala Congress. From 1980 to 1982, he was a member of the 6th Kerala Legislative Assembly (India) representing the Kuttanad Constituency. He was appointed the Chairman of Kerala State Housing Board in 1982, and held that position until 1986. In 2001, he again contested from Kuttanad constituency but lost to K.C. Joseph of LDF. At the time of his death, he was the Chairman of State Farming Corporation of Kerala. Mathew died at a private hospital in Kochi on 20 July 2013 of a heart attack, aged 73. Kuttanad
Kuttanad ( ml, കുട്ടനാട്) is a region covering the Alappuzha, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta Districts, in the state of Kerala, India, well known for its vast paddy fields and geographical peculiarities. The region has the lowest altitude in India, and is one of the few places in the world where farming is carried on around below sea level. Kuttanad is historically important in the ancient history of South India and is the major rice producer in the state. Farmers of Kuttanad are famous for Biosaline Farming. Peermade
Peermade, also spelt Peerumedu (Malayalam: പീരുമേട്) is a village, Grama Panchayat and hill station in the state of Kerala, India. It lies above sea level in the Western Ghats (Sahyadri) about east of Kottayam on the way to Thekkady through the nearby city of Kanjirappally. Kaduthuruthy
Kaduthuruthy is a town in Kottayam District in the state of Kerala, India. Geography Kaduturuthy has an average elevation of . Its name derives from ''Kadal thuruth'', meaning near to the beach as it is believed that several centuries ago, the Arabian sea extended inward into the place, and that it receded due to a tsunami. Kaduthuruthy has a picturesque nature and ecosystem. It is a transit point between the hilly middle region of Kerala and backwater coastal land. Johnny Nellore (born 19 August 1951) is an Indian politician who is the Deputy chairman of Kerala Congress and ex-Chairman of the KC (Jacob). He is an advocate in Muvattupuzha Bar Association. He was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1991, 1996 and 2001. Muvattupuzha
Muvattupuzha () is a town in the midlands directly to the east of Kochi in Ernakulam district, Kerala, India. It is located about from downtown Kochi, and is a growing urban centre in central Kerala. The town is also the starting point of the Muvattupuzhayar (Muvattupuzha river), which is a confluence formed by three rivers: the Thodupuzhayar, Kaliyar, and Kothayar. Piravom
Piravom is a municipality in Ernakulam district and a suburb of Kochi in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located with in 31 km southeast of Kochi city center, at the boundary of the Ernakulam and Kottayam districts. Piravom is famous for its Hindu temples and Christian churches. Piravom has a river-front, verdant hills, and paddy fields.
