Keppetipola
Keppetipola (කැප්පෙටිපොල) is a town in Sri Lanka. It is located in Badulla District of Uva Province, Sri Lanka. During the British period this village had been called as Wilson-Tenna. In 1818 the British General named Wilson destroyed and abandoned this arid. Then this was called Palugama. And later somewhere in 1968 this had been named as Keppetipola. This had been done in honour and to commemorate the action of Monarawila keppetipola's ( then Disawa of Uva under the British ) return of the British troops and Armour and joining and taking the leadership of the 1818 rebellion against the British. Keppetipola Disawe
Rajapaksa Wickramasekera Mudiyanselage Bandaranayake Monarawila Keppetipola ( Sinhala:රාජපක්ෂ වික්රමසේකර මුදියන්සේලාගේ බණ්ඩාරනායක මොනරවිල කැප්පැටිපොල), more widely known as Keppetipola Disawe was a Disawe, a high-ranking official under the rule of King Sri Wikrama Rajasinghe and later under the British Administration in Sri Lanka (then known as Ceylon). He was a prominent leader of the Uva rebellion of 1818 after he joined the rebels whom he was sent to suppress by the British. The rebellion was defeated by the British, and Keppetipola Disawe along with several other leaders of the rebellion were found guilty of high treason and sentenced to death. He is well known for the exceptional courage that he showed at the moment of his execution and is now a national hero of Sri Lanka. Badulla District ( si, බදුල්ල දිස්ත්රික්කය ''badūlla distrikkaya''; ta, பதுளை மாவட்டம் ''Patuḷai māvaṭṭam'') is a district in Uva Province, Sri Lanka. The entire land area of the Badulla district is and has a total population of 837,000.
