Keogh (usually pronounced ) is an Irish surname. It is a reduced Anglicized form of the Gaelic or , 'son of Eochaidh'. The personal name is in turn based upon the Gaelic word for horse (Old Irish ). Richard Keogh
Richard John Keogh (born 11 August 1986) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Ipswich Town and for the Republic of Ireland national team. His main positional role is at centre-back, though he has also played at right-back during his career. Keogh began his career as a trainee at Ipswich Town and Stoke City, making his professional debut on loan from the latter at Icelandic club Víkingur in 2004. He joined Bristol City on a free transfer in 2005 and made his Football League debut in September of that year. He made several more appearances that season before spending a month on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, then going on to appear sporadically for Bristol City at the end of the season, scoring his first goal in April 2006. Andy Keogh
Andrew Declan Keogh (born 16 May 1986) is a former Irish professional footballer who last played as a striker for A-League club Perth Glory. Born in Dublin, Keogh played the first several years of his professional career playing for a number of clubs in England, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, for whom he made over 100 appearances. In 2014, Keogh moved to Australia to play for Perth Glory. He left the Glory for one year to play in the Thai Premier League for Ratchaburi before returning in early 2016, and again in 2020 after leaving in 2019 for Al-Qadsiah. Myles Keogh
Myles Walter Keogh (25 March 1840 – 25 June 1876) was an Irish people, Irish soldier. He served in the armies of the Papal States during the war for Italian unification in 1860, and was recruited into the Union Army during the American Civil War, serving as a cavalry officer, particularly under Brig. Gen. John Buford during the Gettysburg Campaign and the three-day Battle of Gettysburg. After the war, Keogh remained in the regular United States Army as commander of I Troop of the 7th Cavalry Regiment under George Armstrong Custer during the Indian Wars, until he was killed along with Custer and all five of the companies directly under Custer's command at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. Patrick Keogh
Patrick Keogh, also known as Pat Keogh or Paddy Keogh, (c. 1867 – 12 March 1940) was a New Zealand rugby union footballer who toured with the 1888–89 New Zealand Native football team. Playing at Rugby union positions#Scrum-half, half-back, Keogh was considered the star player on the tour, which was the first by a Southern Hemisphere team to the British Isles. He played in at least 70 of the team's 107 matches in the British Isles, Australia and New Zealand. After playing for Dunedin club Kaikorai Rugby Football Club, Kaikorai from 1884, he was selected to represent his province of Otago Rugby Football Union, Otago from 1887, and played for them against the touring British & Irish Lions, British Isles team in 1888 British Lions tour to New Zealand and Australia, 1888. Henry Vincent Keogh (born 1954) is an Australian who was convicted of murder but was eventually released twenty years later on appeal. He grew up in Adelaide, South Australia and was educated at Saint Ignatius College and briefly at the School of Dentistry at The University of Adelaide.State of Injustice, Robert N. Bruce Keogh
Professor Sir Bruce Edward Keogh, KBE, FMedSci, FRCS, FRCP (born 24 November 1954) is a Rhodesian-born British surgeon who specialises in cardiac surgery. He was medical director of the National Health Service in England from 2007 and national medical director of the NHS Commissioning Board (NHS England) from 2013 until his retirement early in 2018. He is chair of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Barbara Keogh (21 April 1929 – 25 October 2005) was a British actress. Keogh is most noted for her work on television, particularly her role as Lilly Mattock on the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. Lieutenant-General Sir Alfred Henry Keogh, (3 July 1857 – 30 July 1936) was a medical doctor in the British Army. He served as Director-General Army Medical Services twice; from 1905 to 1910 and 1914 to 1918. Early life Keogh was born in Dublin on 3 July 1857 to Henry Keogh, a barrister and magistrate of Roscommon. He was educated at Queen's College, Galway, and Guy's Hospital, London. Edward Keogh (May 5, 1835December 1, 1898) was an Irish American immigrant, printer, Democratic politician, and pioneer settler of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served 17 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly between 1860 and 1895, representing Milwaukee's 3rd ward, and was the 37th speaker of the Assembly. He also served two years in the State Senate. Andrew Keogh (librarian)
Andrew Keogh (November 14, 1869 – February 13, 1953) was an English-born American librarian. Keogh started his library career as a librarian with the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Public Library in England from 1892-1898. He then became librarian of the Linonia and Brothers Library at Yale University in 1899 and became a reference librarian at the Yale University Library from 1900 to 1916. He was promoted to head librarian at Yale in 1916 and served in that position until his retirement in 1938. Keogh served as president of the American Library Association from 1929 to 1930. Upon his retirement, Keogh was named a Librarian Emeritus at Yale until his death in 1953. Keogh was also a lecturer and professor of bibliography from 1902 to 1938.
