Kentucky Route 187
Kentucky Route 187 (KY 187) is a north–south state highway that traverses Edmonson and Grayson counties in west-central Kentucky. Route description The highway begins at an intersection with KY 70 at the unincorporated community of Huff, which is located almost halfway between Roundhill and Brownsville. The first few miles of KY 187 is designated as part of the Duncan Hines Scenic Byway, part of the Kentucky Scenic Byway system. The highway runs concurrently with KY 238 in the community of Sunfish for about a mile (1.6 km). During the concurrency, the highway intersects KY 2330 about after the first junction with KY 238. The two highways separate about later. Huff is an unincorporated community located in Edmonson County, Kentucky, United States. Geography Huff is located in the West-central portion of Edmonson County at the junction of Kentucky Routes 70 and 187. It is located about west-northwest of Brownsville. The community is located along Bear Creek, a tributary of the Green River. State highways in Kentucky are maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which classifies routes as either primary or secondary. Some routes, such as Kentucky Route 80, are both primary and secondary, with only a segment of the route listed as part of the primary system. Despite the name, there is no difference in signage between primary and secondary routes. Grayson County High School is the only major high school located in Leitchfield, Kentucky, United States. The school is home to approximately 1300 students with a lightly fluctuating population throughout the year. Grayson County High School is home to several accomplished sports teams, including baseball, softball, football, soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, track, cross country and basketball teams. The school is also home to successful extracurricular groups including the DECA and academic team. Leitchfield is the county seat of Grayson County, Kentucky, United States. Leitchfield is a home rule-class city with a population of 6,404 as of the 2020 census. Western Kentucky Parkway
The Wendell H. Ford Western Kentucky Parkway is a controlled-access highway running from Elizabethtown, Kentucky to near Nortonville, Kentucky. It intersects with Interstate 65 (I-65) at its eastern terminus, and I-69 at its western terminus. It is one of seven highways that are part of the Kentucky parkway system. The road was renamed for Wendell H. Ford, a former Kentucky governor and United States senator, in 1998. Previously, it was simply the Western Kentucky Parkway, and often called the "WK Parkway" or "the WK" because of the acronym once used on its signs. Shrewsbury is a declining rural unincorporated community located within Grayson County, Kentucky, United States. History In 1900, it was a settlement in its own right,Maps from 1900 ''Encyclopædia Britannica'' but today it seems to be less well-defined, and many maps do not show it. It dates to as early as 1833, and was originally called Territory, but later renamed in honor of Judge James W. Shrewsbury. Its first postmaster was Reuben Tingle.
