Kentish Town Waltz
"Kentish Town Waltz" is a song by Irish rockabilly singer Imelda May. Written solely by May, the song was released as her fifth single on 15 November 2010 and the third single from her third studio album, ''Mayhem''. The song, which has been described as "the standout song" of the album, is one of May's autobiographical songs and was also rerecorded in New York City with iconic musician Lou Reed. Origin and recording The song was originally recorded during the ''Mayhem'' sessions at Embassy Studios, a sixteen track analogue recording studio in a converted cow shed, near Basingstoke, United Kingdom in mid-2010. It was eventually featured as the fourth track on ''Mayhem''. American record producer Tony Visconti became a fan of the song soon after its release and forwarded the song to former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed who then invited May to fly to New York City to specifically rerecord the song. Imelda May
Imelda Mary Higham (born Imelda Mary Clabby, 10 July 1974), professionally known as Imelda May, is an Irish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Known primarily as a singer, she also plays the bodhrán, guitar, bass guitar and tambourine. She is known for her musical style of rockabilly revival and has also been compared to female jazz musicians such as Billie Holiday. Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, May began her career in music at 16 by performing with a number of local bands and musicians. She formed her own band in 2002, and released her debut studio album, '' No Turning Back''. After the release, May relocated to London with her then-husband, guitarist Darrel Higham. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Kentish Town is a London Underground and National Rail station in Kentish Town in the London Borough of Camden. It is at the junction of Kentish Town Road ( A400) and Leighton Road. The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' EPOS systems. All major record shops, digital retailers and streaming services contribute to the chart, accounting for over 95% of the market. A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon. ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'' is a British comedy panel game show with a pop music theme. It has aired on Sky Max since September 2021, having originally aired between November 1996 and January 2015 on BBC Two. Darrel Higham
Darrel Higham (born 5 January 1970) is an English rockabilly guitarist who performs with Kat Men. He was previously married to Imelda May and performed in her band. Biography Music career Higham started playing lead guitar with British rockabilly bands in the late 1980s. By the mid-1990s, he and the bass player Mick Wigfall had created the band that would become his main gigging and recording project: Darrel Higham & The Enforcers. Higham's solo projects include session work as guitarist with Chrissie Hynde, Jeff Beck, Rocky Burnette, Billy Lee Riley, Shakin' Stevens (on the 1999 UK tour). Eddie Cochran's last road band – The Kelly Four – employed Higham as their front man for a six-month period in 1992 for gigs and recordings in the US. Kentish Town is an area of northwest London, England in the London Borough of Camden, immediately north of Camden Town.
