Kent Tate
Kent Tate is a Canadian artist and filmmaker living in British Columbia. Tate is known for his single-channel video installation works. Early life Tate was born in Rivers, Manitoba. He grew up in Germany until he moved with his family to Ottawa, Ontario. Exhibitions Tate has exhibited his films and art installations internationally in the UK, USA, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Argentina, New Zealand, Mexico and Korea since the early 1980s. In 1982, Jennifer Oille reviewed Tate's A.R.C. satellite installation in Toronto, the ''Museum of Post-Habitation,'' in '' Vanguard'', describing Tate's conversion of a soon to be abandoned dwelling into a museum. The exhibition ended with Tate's performance, ''Ending All Occupation.'' In 1985, the Helen Pitt Gallery in Vancouver presented Tate's exhibition ''No Rest for the Restless''. Rivers, Manitoba
Rivers is an unincorporated urban community in the Riverdale Municipality within the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located northwest of Brandon, above sea level. It is within the Westman Region (Southwestern Manitoba). Agriculture, health and related businesses provide income for the community and area. Rivers has a population of 1,257 people in the 2016 census. History Rivers was named in 1908 after Sir Charles Rivers Wilson, Chairman of the Board of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. During the Second World War, Rivers became one of the sites in Canada which helped to fix the positions of German U-boats using high-frequency direction finding. This site, along with Portage la Prairie increased the "fix" accuracy on the U-boats. Rivers held town status prior to January 1, 2015. Walthamstow International Film Festival
Walthamstow International Film Festival (WIFF) is an annual film festival in Walthamstow, London, with a focus on short films by local and international filmmakers. The event was initially organized in 2010 to return the presence of film to the district for the E17 Art Trail event. Walthamstow was once home to the silent film studio Walthamstow Studios during the 1920s. Sponsors have included Time Out magazine and the British Film Institute. Established in 2010, the Walthamstow International Film Festival was co-founded by Paul (Fletch) Fletcher and Liza Fletcher, and has been held annually since. Yorkton Film Festival
Yorkton Film Festival (YFF) is an annual film festival held in late May in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1947, the Yorkton Film Council (YFC) was founded and in 1950 the first international documentary film festival officially opened in western Canada on 11 October. The festival originally was named Yorkton International Documentary Film Festival and latter become known as Yorkton International Film Festival. In 1969, the Yorkton Film Council disbanded and the Yorkton International Film Festival Society was formed.
