Kensington Lakes Activity Association
The Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) is an athletic conference for high schools in Michigan. It was formed in the 2008-2009 school year as a result of the merger of the Kensington Valley Conference and the Western Lakes Activities Association, plus two other schools joining from the Oakland Activities Association and the newly built South Lyon East. The league started in 2008 with 23 teams. Howell Parker was to join the KLAA when the conference was first created, but closed after only one year of operation and later re-opened as a middle school. Grand Blanc joined in 2009 to give the league 24 teams. Athletic Conference
An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 and 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Not every team could play each other due to the limited number of rounds, so conferences were introduced so that teams were only measured against the teams they played. The system was controversial because it allowed some weak teams to make finals, and strong teams from the other conference missed out on finals. Novi High School (commonly Novi or NHS) is a public high school in Novi, Michigan, United States in Greater Detroit, serving students in grades 9– 12. It is operated by Novi Community School District and was awarded Blue Ribbon School status in 1986-87 and 1999-00. Novi High School currently enrolls 2,020 students and has a 200 member faculty. Winston Churchill High School (Wayne County, Michigan)
Churchill High School, named after Winston Churchill, is one of the four main public high schools (and the most recently built) in the city of Livonia, Michigan, a western suburb of Detroit. The school was created in 1968 as an add-on to the other high schools in Livonia in response to the population boom that the city saw at the time. The first school year (1968–69), a sophomore class attended classes at nearby Franklin High School. Beginning in the 1969–70 school year, classes were then held in the new building with a junior and sophomore class. The first graduating class graduated in June 1971. Fordson High School is a secondary school located in Dearborn, Michigan, United States in Greater Detroit. It was completed in 1928 on a parcel of land which was then the village of Fordson, named for Henry Ford and his son Edsel Ford. It is a part of Dearborn Public Schools. Dearborn High School (DHS) is a public high school located in Dearborn, Michigan. It was founded in 1893 in Dearborn near Greater Detroit. Dearborn High is one of the three high schools of the Dearborn City School District and is located at 19501 Outer Drive. There are over 2,000 students currently attending Dearborn High. Western Wayne Athletic Conference
The Western Wayne Athletic Conference (WWAC), is a high school sports conference located in Wayne County, Michigan. It was formed in 2009. Formation and Expansion The WWAC was formed by 11 of the teams of the former Michigan Mega Conference after it disbanded in 2009. The league began play that same year. The league expanded in 2013 with the additions of Clarenceville, and until summer 2013, Inkster. Many rivalries from the Mega were carried over to the WWAC, including the rivalries from Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. Annual crossover games had also maintained the football rivalry between Garden City and Edsel Ford, until 2015, when division realignment forced the teams to put the game on hiatus. In 2018, Belleville, Dearborn and Fordson all left the WWAC to join the Kensington Lakes Activities Association, while Edsel Ford left the same year in favor of joining the Downriver League.
