Kenny Baillie is a former CEO of the rugby clubs Glasgow Hawks, Glasgow Warriors and London Scottish; and a former player of Glasgow Hawks and Glasgow Warriors. Rugby Union career Amateur career Starting his amateur career at Glasgow Academicals on the merger of Glasgow High Kelvinside with the club to form Glasgow Hawks, Baillie was to become a Hawks player. Baillie captained Glasgow Hawks as a player. Professional career He was to be called up by Glasgow Rugby (now Glasgow Warriors) for their 1996 match against AS Montferrand (now Clermont) in the European Cup. In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. In the 2014–15 season they won the Pro12 title and became the first Scottish team to win a major trophy in rugby union's professional era. The Glasgow Academical Football Club is the third oldest rugby football club in Scotland. The club was also a founder member of the Scottish Football Union (the future SRU) in 1873. History Glasgow Hawks In 1997 the decision was made to combine the first XV's of Glasgow Academicals and close rivals Glasgow High Kelvinside (themselves a fairly new club having been formed when the struggling Glasgow High FP and Kelvinside Academicals clubs combined in 1982), something that was predicted would happen only after "hell freezes over". Glasgow Hawks is an amateur rugby union team in Glasgow, Scotland. They were Premiership Division One champions for three consecutive seasons from 2003–04 to 2005–06. History In Paris on 27 August 1995 a meeting of the International Rugby Board declared that professionalism was to be allowed in rugby. At that time there were differing views as to whether districts or Premier clubs in Scotland would become professional. Several Glasgow players decided to move to other teams. Ian Riddoch
Ian Riddoch is a former CEO of the Glasgow Warriors, a professional Scottish rugby union club playing in the Pro14. On leaving Leeds Beckett University in 1994 Riddoch got a job with Leeds City Council in Promotions and Tourism. This evolved into being a co-ordinator for Leeds becoming a host city for the football tournament Euro 96. This gave a natural progression into the sporting world; first as an account manager working on football sponsorship accounts between 1995 and 1998; then as head of sales and marketing for Super League (Europe) marketing rugby league.
