Ken Dugdale
Kenneth William Dugdale (born 7 December 1950) is an English association football coach and former player, who manages Norwegian club Vollen UL. Career Born in Liverpool, Dugdale spent his early career with Kirkby Town, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He later played non-league football with Wigan Athletic, New Brighton and Burscough. Dugdale later became a football coach, and was manager of the New Zealand national team from 1998 to 2002. Dugdale was in charge of New Zealand at the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup, and has also managed the Football Kingz. He has also managed Vollen UL in Norway. The 1998 OFC Nations Cup was held in Brisbane, Australia. The six participating teams were Australia and New Zealand who qualified as of right, Fiji and Vanuatu who qualified from the Melanesia Cup, and Tahiti and the Cook Islands who qualified from the Polynesia Cup. Alan Dugdale
Alan Dugdale (born 11 September 1952 in Liverpool) is an English retired professional football central defender. He spent most of his career in England with one season in the North American Soccer League. In 1969, Dugdale began his career with Coventry City. In 1970, he was part of the Coventry City youth team which lost the championship to Tottenham Hotspur. Dugdale did not break into the first team until 1974 and transferred to Charlton Athletic in October 1977 for £ 50,000. In the fall of 1979, he signed with the Tulsa Roughnecks as it prepared for the 1979–1980 North American Soccer League indoor season. He then played the entire 1980 and six games of the 1981 outdoor seasons. Jimmy Dugdale
James Robert Dugdale (15 January 1932 – 26 February 2008) was an English professional footballer best known for his career with Aston Villa, with whom he won a F.A. Cup winner's medal in 1957, 2nd Division Championship 1960, Inaugural League Cup Winner 1961. His playing position was Centre-Half (i.e. centre-back in current parlance). Before playing for Villa, Dugdale started his career at Harrowby F.C. (Liverpool) before moving to West Bromwich Albion, with whom he won a FA Cup winner's medal in 1954. Dugdale was selected on three occasions for England B, while he also represented the FA XI and the Football League XI in 1953–54. He moved to Queens Park Rangers in October 1962, before retiring from the game due to injury in May 1963. Dugdale had a leg amputated in 1993. He died aged 76 after a long illness, leaving wife Dorothy, daughters Debbie and Nicola and son Russell. 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup was the fourth FIFA Confederations Cup, and the second organised by FIFA. The tournament was hosted by Mexico between 24 July and 4 August 1999. It was won by Mexico, who beat Brazil 4–3 in the final. Mexico became the first host nation to win the FIFA Confederations Cup. The competition was to originally be held in three stadiums, in three cities in the country. However, since the stadiums in Monterrey were sponsored by a competing beer company other than the official advertiser, the city was left out of the tournament altogether. The tournament was originally scheduled for 8–20 January 1999, but was rescheduled by FIFA on 17 November 1998 to accommodate the scheduling of the participating European teams. The 2000 OFC Nations Cup was held in Papeete, Tahiti. The six participating teams were Australia and New Zealand who qualified as of right, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu who qualified from the Melanesia Cup, the Cook Islands and Tahiti who qualified from the Polynesia Cup. Australia beat New Zealand 2–0 in the final. The Solomon Islands beat Vanuatu 2–1 for third place. OFC Nations Cup
The OFC Nations Cup is an international association football tournament held among the OFC member nations. It was held every two years from 1996 to 2004; before 1996 there were two other tournaments held at irregular intervals, under the name Oceania Nations Cup. No competition was held in 2006, but in the 2008 edition, which also acted as a qualification tournament for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and for a play-off for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the New Zealand national football team emerged as winners. Historically, a very large gulf separated Australia and New Zealand from the smaller island competitors, and little attention was paid to the tournament by the rest of the football world.
