Kelly Pratt (musician)
Kelly Pratt is an arranger and multi-instrumentalist best known for his horn work in the band Beirut and with David Byrne. Biography Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Pratt has been a member of Beirut since the band's relocation to Brooklyn, playing in the live band and on the recordings. He joined Montreal's Arcade Fire on their Neon Bible world tour in 2007–2008, playing trumpet, flugelhorn, euphonium, French horn and flute. Pratt has also been an arranger and musical director for David Byrne & St. Vincent, leading the brass section for the tour promoting their album Love This Giant. He is currently arranger and conductor for Father John Misty. In addition to the previous bands he has performed and/or recorded with Coldplay, LCD Soundsystem, Passion Pit, James Iha, Owen Pallett, The War on Drugs, The Antlers, Lonnie Holley, and Anthony Braxton, amongst others. Beirut (band)
Beirut is an American band that was originally the solo musical project of Zach Condon. Beirut's music combines elements of indie rock and world music. The band's first performance with the full brass section was in New York, in May 2006, in support of their debut album ''Gulag Orkestar'', but performed their first show with Condon, Petree, and Collins at the College of Santa Fe earlier that year. Condon named the band after Lebanon's capital, because of the city's history of conflict and as a place where cultures collide. Escort (band)
Escort is an American nu-disco band based out of Brooklyn, New York. Founded by Dan Balis, Eugene Cho and Darius Maghen including (previous) lead vocalist Adeline Michèle, they are known for their modern and live dance music sound. Founders Dan Balis and Eugene Cho met at Vassar College and started making house singles in the early 2000s. Escort started as a studio project for the duo who, "wanted to make records in the spirit of the old ones we were sampling." Despite being a self-proclaimed disco band they "are very careful to make music that doesn't just sound and feel old, but is actually relevant for DJs and listeners today." ''Lon Gisland'' is an EP by Beirut, released on CD by Ba Da Bing! Records in January 2007 and on single-sided 12" LP by Chouette Records. It is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed ''Gulag Orkestar'' and the first album performed by the full band, which came together after ''Gulag Orkestar''s release. ''Lon Gisland'' includes a reworked version of "Scenic World", from Beirut's previous album. Luaka Bop is a New York–based record label founded by musician David Byrne, former lead singer and guitarist for the art rock– new wave band Talking Heads. Anthony Braxton
Anthony Braxton (born June 4, 1945) is an American experimental composer, educator, music theorist, improviser and multi-instrumentalist who is best known for playing saxophones, particularly the alto. Braxton grew up on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, and was a key early member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians. Lonnie Bradley Holley (born February 10, 1950) sometimes known as the Sand Man, is an American artist, art educator, and musician. He is best known for his assemblages and immersive environments made of found materials.
