Kanal 2 is a privately owned Estonian television channel. Its literal name in English is "Channel 2". The channel was established by Ilmar Taska. The channel began broadcasting on 1 October 1993. History The channel started broadcasting on October 1, 1993, the first program seen on the new network being the Estonian animated film Kapsapea (Cabbage Head). Kalju Komissarov
Kalju Komissarov (8 March 1946 Võru – 6 March 2017) was an Estonian actor, theatre and film director, and theatre pedagogue. In 1968 he graduated from Tallinn State Conservatory. 1968-1974 he worked as a film director at Tallinnfilm. 1974-1986 he was the principal stage manager at Noorsooteater, and 1986-1988 at Ugala Theatre. 1986-1995 he was the head of Estonian Music and Theatre Academy's Higher Theatre School ( et, Eesti Muusikaakadeemia Kõrgem Lavakunstikool). In 2006 he was awarded with Order of the White Star, III class. Komissarov was married to actress and former Tallinn State Conservatory classmate Helle-Reet Helenurm from 1967 until 1971. Madis Milling
Madis Milling (24 November 1970 – 3 February 2022) was an Estonian actor, comedian, television and radio presenter, volunteer rescue worker, and politician. He was a member of the Estonian Defence League since 1990, in 2011 he was ranked as a lieutenant. Life and career In 1993, Milling graduated from Tallinn University as a theatre director. Milling was well known known for his role of Valdur Põld in the Eesti Televisioon (ETV) and later TV3 comedy series ''Vanad ja kobedad'' from 2000 until 2007, and the 2003 film ''Vanad ja kobedad saavad jalad alla'' based on the series. He was a host on several radio stations, including Sky Plus, Vikerraadio, and Radio Kuku. He had performed on comedy tours with Pille Pürg and Henrik Normann since 2005. From 2006 until 2013, he played the role of Mart Kukk in the Kanal 2 crime-drama television series ''Kelgukoerad''.
