''The Butterfly's Dream'' ( tr, Kelebeğin Rüyası) is a 2013 Turkish drama film written and directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan. The film was selected as the Turkish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Rahman Altın, the composer of the score to the film won the "World Soundtrack Awards - Public Choice Award" at the 40th Film Fest Gent. Plot The movie starts in Zonguldak, in 1941. Yılmaz Erdoğan
Yılmaz Erdoğan (born 4 November 1967) is a Turkish filmmaker, actor and poet who is most famous for his box-office record-breaking debut comedy film ''Vizontele'' (2001) and the television series ''Bir Demet Tiyatro'' (1995–2002/2006–2007). He founded BKM Theatre and Film Production. He was awarded the Best Supporting Actor at 4th Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for his performance in ''The Water Diviner'' (2014). Biography Yilmaz Erdoğan spent his childhood in Ankara until he moved to Istanbul along with his family. His family is of Kurdish origin. Turkey has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film on a regular basis since 1989. This is a list of submissions to the 86th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. For the 86th Academy Awards, which were held on 2 March 2014, the submitted films must be first released theatrically in their respective countries for seven consecutive days between 1 October 2012 and 30 September 2013. Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan (born 12 September 1965) is a Turkish film, television and theatre actor and director. Biography Taylan graduated in theatre from Hacettepe University State Conservatory. He is best known for his role as İskender in the hit surreal comedy series ''Leyla ile Mecnun'' and other films. Between 1989 and 1993, he worked at the Diyarbakır State Theatre. In 1993 and 1994, he worked with Roberto Ciulli at the Theatre an Der Ruhr in Germany. Taylan has since worked in many theatrical projects with Yücel Erten. He became General Secretary of the Devlet Tiyatroları Sanatçıları Derneği or DETİS (State Theatre Artists' Association) and served in the position until he resigned in 2006.
