Keith Houghton-Webb
Keith Houghton-Webb (née Keith Webb) is a musician, born 5 February 1959 in London, England, to John and Shirley Webb. Webb moved from England to Australia in 1967. Within a couple of years of arriving in Australia, Keith joined school-mates to form a small music group and entered a number of junior talent shows in Adelaide (South Australia). Keith and his older brother Mike received the "Encouragement Award" alongside Faye Nelson and Deborah Kirk on SAS 10's ''New Faces'' in 1971, before going on to win the final of the season. At the age of 12 Keith (and brother Mike) co-compared and contributed musically to a new show Hey Hey It's Saturday. The principal host of the show was Dean Davis. After a single season, the format of "Hey Hey" was changed and within a few years the Melbourne show hosted by Daryl Somers was syndicated throughout the Nine Network (Australia Wide). ''New Faces'' was an Australian talent show that preceded the British show of the same name, produced at GTV-9 Melbourne. The program began in 1963 under the name ''Kevin Dennis Auditions'', sponsored by the new car dealership, Kevin Dennis Motors, which was run by Kevin Dennis ( Dennis Gowing), who was also a well known face on Australian TV from his catchy 'Update' TV Commercials in the 1960s–70s, which were featured during the breaks of the popular show. The program ran on Saturday mornings. The program name soon changed to ''Kevin Dennis New Faces'', and later simply ''New Faces'', becoming a Sunday night prime time show. Hey Hey It's Saturday
''Hey Hey It's Saturday'' was a long-running variety television program on Australian television. It initially ran for 28 years on the Nine Network from 9 October 1971 to 20 November 1999, with a recess in 1978. Its host throughout its entire run was Daryl Somers, who later also became executive producer of the program. The original producer, Gavan Disney, left the program in the 1980s and Somers then jointly formed his own production company, Somers Carroll Productions, with comedy writer and on-screen partner Ernie Carroll, the performer of Somers' pink ostrich puppet sidekick Ossie Ostrich. On 25 July 2009, the Nine Network announced the show would return for two reunion specials in late 2009 and hinted if they rated strongly, the show could return full-time. Daryl Somers
Daryl Paul Somers (né Schulz; 6 August 1951) is an Australian television personality and musician, and a triple Gold Logie award-winner. He rose to national fame as the host and executive producer of the long-running comedy-variety program ''Hey Hey It's Saturday'' and continued his television celebrity and status as host of the live-performance program ''Dancing with the Stars''.
