Deer Lodge Curling Club
The Deer Lodge Curling Club located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a six-sheet curling club located in the west part of the city. The club was established in 1919 and moved to the current location in the 1950s. In 2023, the Thistle Curling Club (Winnipeg), Thistle Curling Club announced that they would be selling their location and merging their club with Deer Lodge Curling Club. The two clubs would retain their history and identity but continue to operate out of the same facility beginning in the fall of 2023. Lieutenant General Sir Scott Carnegie Grant, (born 28 September 1944) is a former British Army officer who served as Quartermaster-General to the Forces from 1998 to 2000. Military career Educated at The King's School, Pontefract, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Clare College, Cambridge, Scott Grant was commissioned into the Corps of Royal Engineers in 1965. He became Director-General Training & Doctrine for the Army in 1991, Team Leader for the Command Structure Review in 1993, and General Officer Commanding UK Support Command (Germany) in 1994. In 1996 he became Commandant of the Royal College of Defence Studies, and in 1998 he was appointed Quartermaster-General to the Forces. He was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath in the 1999 New Year Honours, and retired in 2000. Christopher D. Neufeld (born April 21, 1957 in Steinbach, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Steinbach, Manitoba. He played second for Vic Peters in the senior division. Neufeld was raised in Steinbach and attended the Steinbach Regional Secondary School where he met and competed at the high school level with Peters. After moving to Winnipeg and going pro, Neufeld and Peters curled their entire careers together, and during that time won 3 Provincial Championships, 1 National Championship in 1992 and also won the Manitoba Senior Men's Championships in 2008. Neufeld's sons Denni Neufeld curled with Jason Gunnlaugson and B.J. Neufeld currently curls on the Kevin Koe rink. Personal life Neufeld is married and has three children. Victor Alvin "Vic" Peters (March 24, 1955 – March 27, 2016) was a Canadian curler who was a three-time Manitoba curling champion, and one-time national champion as winner of the 1992 Labatt Brier. Peters was once considered a member of Manitoba's "Big Three", which consisted of himself, Kerry Burtnyk and Jeff Stoughton. These teams dominated curling in Canada and the world during the 1990s, winning four Labatt Briers and two world championships. Peters was noted for his tuck delivery alongside Burtnyk and Stoughton. Career Peters won his first and only national championship on his first visit to the Brier in 1992. This earned him a trip to the World Curling Championships in Germany where his team finished third. Peters team won the national championship under the traditional curling rules, but in Europe they played under the 4-rock free guard zone rule. The 2005 Strauss Canada Cup of Curling was held March 15–20, 2005, at Sport Mart Place in Kamloops, British Columbia. The winning teams received berths into the 2005 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Future Olympic champion Kevin Martin won the men's event, while 2006 Olympic bronze medalist Shannon Kleibrink won the women's event, which aided her path to reach the Olympics. She had already qualified for the Trials, so the runner-up Jan Betker rink earned a berth. The total purse for the event was $180,000. Martin's team won $37,750, while Team Kleibrink took home $37,250.
