Keeley Davis
Keeley Davis (born January 4, 1976) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter and graphic designer. He is best known as a member of the post-hardcore band At the Drive-In, with whom he has recorded one studio album, ''In•ter a•li•a'' (2017). Davis is also a former member of the rock bands Sparta and Engine Down. Career He was the primary lead singer of the band Engine Down, in which he also played guitar. He was also in the band Denali with his sister, Maura Davis. He played bass and synthesizer. Engine Down disbanded (under friendly circumstances) after a farewell tour in 2005, and Davis joined Sparta as lead guitarist. Davis has since recollaborated with Maura in the ambient indie rock side-project Glös, formed by him and former Engine Down drummer Cornbread Compton. Their debut album, ''Harmonium'', was released in April 2007 on Lovitt Records. Sparta (band)
Sparta is an American rock band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001. The band currently consists of Jim Ward (vocals, guitar) and Matt Miller (bass), who are touring as a three-piece with rotating session drummers. Founding members Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar were members of post-hardcore group At the Drive-In, forming Sparta in 2001 after the break-up of their former band. The band entered a hiatus from 2008 onwards for Ward to focus on his solo career and side projects, reuniting from 2011 to 2013 for a series of shows and permanently reuniting in 2017. The band has released four studio albums to date, with their fourth, ''Trust the River'', being released in 2020 after a 14-year break between releases. At The Drive-In
At the Drive-In was an American post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 1994. The band's most recent line-up consisted of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals), Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, vocals), Paul Hinojos (bass), Tony Hajjar (drums) and Keeley Davis (guitar, vocals). After several early line-up changes, the band solidified into a five-piece, consisting of Bixler-Zavala, Rodríguez-López, Jim Ward, Hinojos and Hajjar. At the Drive-In released three studio albums and five EPs before breaking up in 2001. Their third and final album before their split, 2000's '' Relationship of Command'', received a number of accolades and is cited as a landmark of the post-hardcore genre. Sparta was a prominent city-state in Laconia in ancient Greece. In antiquity, the city-state was known as Lacedaemon (, ), while the name Sparta referred to its main settlement on the banks of the Eurotas (river), Eurotas River in Laconia, in south-eastern Peloponnese. Around 650 BC, it rose to become the dominant Military, military land-power in ancient Greece. The discography of At the Drive-In, an El Paso, Texas-based post-hardcore band active from 1994 to 2001, consists of four studio albums, one compilation album, five EPs, six singles, and three music videos. At the Drive-In formed in 1994 with an initial lineup of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (lead vocals), Jim Ward (guitar and backing vocals), Jarrett Wrenn (guitar), Kenny Hopper (bass guitar), and Bernie Rincon (drums). This lineup released the band's debut EP, ''Hell Paso'', through their own imprint Western Breed Records that November. Rincon was replaced by Davy Simmons for their second EP, 1995's ''¡Alfaro Vive, Carajo!'' Further lineup changes saw Wrenn replaced by Adam Amparan, Hopper by Omar Rodríguez-López, and Simmons by Ryan Sawyer. ''in•ter a•li•a'' is the fourth studio album by At the Drive-In, released on May 5, 2017. It is their first studio album in 17 years since ''Relationship of Command'', and their first release since the 2005 compilation album ''This Station Is Non-Operational''. It is also the first studio release by the band since ''El Gran Orgo'' to not feature founding member Jim Ward, who chose not to participate in the band's second reunion; as well as the first studio album by the band to feature former Sparta guitarist Keeley Davis. ''Threes'' is the third studio album by Sparta. The album was released on October 24, 2006, and peaked at number 83 on the ''Billboard'' 200. It is their first album with new guitarist Keeley Davis, previously of Engine Down and Denali. The album was made available for streaming several days before its release on the band's MySpace site. A leaked copy of the album surfaced on the internet as well during early October 2006. Initial reviews were mixed, ranging from average to excellent (see reviews section). The album is generally considered to be darker and more complex than previous offerings, differing greatly from previous material in some places with callbacks in others. Jim Ward (musician)
James David Ward (born September 19, 1976) is an American musician. A self-taught guitarist and pianist, he is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the band Sparta; he is also a co-founder of the post-hardcore band At the Drive-In, which he formed in 1993 when he was 17 years old. At the Drive-In While in At the Drive-In, Ward played guitar and sang backup vocals, as well as playing piano and keyboards on select songs. He performed lead vocals on two tracks, entitled ''"Hourglass"'' and ''"Ursa Minor"'', as well as singing co-lead with lead vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala on a number of tracks. Using the money from his college savings, he created the label "Western Breed Records" specifically to release Hell Paso and Alfaro Vive, Carajo!, At the Drive-in's first two releases.
