Denali (band)
Denali was an American indie rock band formed in April 2000 in Richmond, Virginia. The group disbanded in 2004 but reunited in 2008 for several performances. History The band was founded by Cam DiNunzio, Jonathan Fuller, Keeley Davis and Maura Davis. They recorded a five-song demo in January 2001, and signed with Jade Tree Records later that year. Denali released their self-titled debut album in 2002. In August 2003, they released their second album ''The Instinct''. Shortly after the album's release, Jonathan Fuller and Keeley Davis left the band to focus their attention on Engine Down. Davis was replaced by Stephen Howard and Ryan Rapsys replaced Fuller. However, the new band configuration ultimately led to Denali breaking up in April 2004. In 2006, Lovitt Records released the DVD ''Pinnacle'', featuring a concert from 2003. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Jade Tree International, Inc. is an independent record label formed by Darren Walters and Tim Owen in 1990 in Wilmington, Delaware. History Origin (1987–1990) In 1987, Tim Owen and Darren Walters were introduced during a punk show in Washington, D.C. At the time, Walters was a student at the University of Delaware where he had already independently released records on his label, Hi-Impact Records. To further these musical pursuits, Darren teamed up with Rochester Institute of Technology student Tim Owen, and his friend Carl Hedgepath. Together, they created their own label, Axtion Packed Records. Both Axtion Packed and Hi-Impact focused on straight edge hardcore and produced vinyl records in 45 format. Peter Katis is an American Grammy Award-winning record producer, audio engineer, mixer, and musician. Katis is best known for working with alternative and indie rock bands. He works primarily out of his own residential studio, Tarquin Studios, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Personal life Peter Katis was born in New York City in April 1966. He is the eldest son of Dr. Lauma Katis and Dr. James Katis, both psychiatrists. His brothers are Tom and Tarquin. Katis attended New Canaan Country School and Greenwich High School, both in Connecticut. He graduated from the University of Vermont having majored in Visual Arts and minored in English.
