Kaélé
Kaélé is a town in Cameroon's Far North Province, on the Diamaré Plain at . It lies near the Chadian border and 104 km south of Maroua. The town has a population of roughly 30,600 and is the capital of the Mayo Kani division. The cottonseed oil company Diamaor runs a mill in the town. Kaélé is accessible by road and by airstrip. Far North Province
The Far North Region, also known as the Extreme North Region (from ), is the northernmost and most populous constituent province of Cameroon, the Republic of Cameroon. It borders the North Region (Cameroon), North Region to the south, Chad to the east, and Nigeria to the west. The capital is Maroua. The province is one of Cameroon's most culturally diverse. Over 50 different ethnic groups populate the area, including the Baggara, Shuwa Arabs, Fulani, and Kapsiki. Marthe Wandou
Marthe Wandou (born 15 October 1963) is a Cameroonian lawyer and women's rights activist. Early life and education Wandou was born in Kaélé, Cameroon on 15 October 1963. Her parents were supportive of female education, and she was one of the first women from Kaélé to enroll in university. She received a license in private law at the University of Yaoundé and a master's in project management at the Catholic University of Central Africa. She also studied gender studies at the University of Antwerp. Career In 1998, Wandou founded ''Action Locale pour un Développement Participatif et Autogéré'' (ALDEPA) to provide female education for young girls in Cameroon and prevent violence against women. She is an advocate of psychosocial support for victims of sexual violence and kidnapping. Wandou provides legal support for victims of gender-based violence. Flag Of Cameroon
The national flag of Cameroon () was adopted in its present form on 20 May 1975 after Cameroon became a unitary state. It is a vertical tricolour of green, red and yellow Pale (heraldry), pales, with a yellow five-pointed star in its center. There is a wide variation in the size of the central star, although it is always contained within the inside stripe. Description The colour scheme uses the traditional Pan-African colours (Cameroon was the second state to adopt them). The centre stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity". The yellow stands for the sun, and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon. The Republic of Cameroon is divided into ten regions. History Between 1961 and 1972, Cameroon was a federal republic made up of two federated states, East Cameroon and West Cameroon. A unitary system came into being in 1972. The country was then divided into provinces. In 1983, Centre-South Province was divided into Centre and South and at the same time, Adamawa and Far North Provinces were split from North Province. Maroua
Maroua (Fula: Marwa, , 𞤥𞤢𞤪𞤱𞤢) is the capital of the Far North Region (Cameroon), Far North Region of Cameroon, stretching along the banks of the Ferngo River, Ferngo and Kaliao Rivers, in the foothills of the Mandara Mountains.
