Kauf MICH! (song)
"Kauf MICH!" (''Buy ME!'') is a song by Die Toten Hosen. It's the fourth single and the seventh track from the album '' Kauf MICH!''. The single cover is designed as a typical washing powder box. The uniqueness of the song is, that lyrically narrator puts himself "on the market", coinciding with the theme of commercialism. One of the b-sides, "Der heiße Draht", is based on an idea of people calling and singing DTH songs over the phone. For the single, this was divided in three parts. On the re-release of ''Kauf MICH!'', a best-of from these calls was made. There is also an English version of the song, titled "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is (Buy Me!)", which appeared on ''Love, Peace & Money''. Music video The video was directed by Hans Neleman. Die Toten Hosen (literally "The Dead Trousers", figuratively "The Deadbeats") is a German punk rock band from Düsseldorf. History The current members of Die Toten Hosen are Campino (Andreas Frege), Kuddel (Andreas von Holst), Vom (Stephen Ritchie), Andi (Andreas Meurer) and Breiti (Michael Breitkopf). All members except one are German, though Campino's mother, Jenny, was English. The drummer Vom comes from England. He joined in 1999, after previous drummer Wölli sustained injuries in a car crash. Wölli had played from 1985 to 1999 and was an honorary member of the band until his death in 2016. The drummer until 1985 was Trini Trimpop, who became the band's manager when Wölli joined. ''Love, Peace & Money'' (also ''Love Peace & Money''; Japanese 愛、平和、そして金) is the first English-language album by the German punk band Die Toten Hosen (ディ・トーテン・ホーゼン di tōten hōzen"in katakana; DTH), not counting the cover album ''Learning English, Lesson One''. It was intended for the Japanese market. Most of the songs are just English versions of other DTH songs. For the cover, the idea of ''Reich & sexy'' was copied. However, the band was unable to find enough Japanese women willing to undress for the cover, so some of the women are just made to look Japanese. The reason behind the album was that since the band was also famous outside German language, German speaking countries, they wanted everybody to understand what they have to say. The Crickets
The Crickets were an American rock and roll band from Lubbock, Texas, formed by singer-songwriter Buddy Holly in January 1957. Their first hit record, "That'll Be the Day", released in May 1957, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Top 100 chart on September 16, 1957. The sleeve of their first album, ''The "Chirping" Crickets'', shows the band line-up at the time: Holly on lead vocals and lead guitar, Niki Sullivan on rhythm guitar, Jerry Allison on drums, and Joe B. Sonny Curtis
Sonny Curtis (born May 9, 1937) is an American singer and songwriter. Known for his collaborations with Buddy Holly, he was a member of the Crickets and continued with the band after Holly's death. Curtis's best known compositions include "Walk Right Back", a major hit in 1961 for the Everly Brothers and "I Fought the Law", notably covered by the Bobby Fuller Four and the Clash. Overview Curtis was born in Meadow, Texas, United States. As a guitarist, he played on some of Buddy Holly's earlier 1956 Decca sessions, including the minor hit "Blue Days Black Nights" and a song he wrote, "Rock Around With Ollie Vee". In 1955 and 1956 he, along with Buddy Holly, opened concerts for rising new star Elvis Presley. I Fought The Law
"I Fought the Law" is a song written by Sonny Curtis of the Crickets and popularized by a cover by the Bobby Fuller Four, becoming a top-ten hit for the band in 1966. Their version of the song was ranked No. 175 on the ''Rolling Stone'' list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004, and the same year was named one of the 500 "Songs that Shaped Rock" by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A version by Sam Neely charted in 1975. The song was also recorded by the Clash in 1979. A version with different lyrics was recorded by the Dead Kennedys. Hans Neleman
Hans Neleman (born 30 May 1960, Vlaardingen) is a Dutch-born international photographer and film director who lives in Connecticut and working in New York City. He is also the founder of boutique stock photography agency Win-initiative and its promotional magazine, WINk. Biography Neleman studied Fine Art at the Goldsmiths College of Art in London, England and specialized in photography and film while at the Polytechnic of Central London (now University of Westminster). Neleman then pursued studio arts at the master level at New York University before establishing himself in his field.
